--Antibody-resistant variants of concern were born in regions without vaccines months ago. Delta was one of the variants the developed immune escape mechanisms. The vaccine is good to go against early infectious variants but is challenged by Delta. Which we sorta already know.

Geer Vanden Bossche has been warning that vaccine antibodies would suppress natural antibody responses. The vaccine antibodies take control of the immune system and defend only against a targeted virus.

Antibodies to covid, whether stimulated by a vaccine or by the virus itself, are all antibodies to covid. And they are all made by our immune system.
And they all defend against the spike protein.

What this study is saying is this...people who are fully vaccinated and get covid are more likely to get the mutants that are at least partially able to escape some of the vaccine protection.

And people who are unvaxxed can get *any* strain of covid.

Their point is that those with breakthrough infections, because they are only susceptible to the strains that have mutated to escape vaccines (partially) are more likely to be carrying the worst strains around when infected.
Because they don’t get any of the other strains since being vaccinated. They are immune to every strain except the ones that are mutating to avoid antibodies created.
The same would be true for covid survivors who have some degree of immunity from any of the other strains.

Your point would be stronger if you didn’t call people stupid. All the US vaccines only target antibodies to the spike protein at rates that are 25x or more higher than natural immunity. Natural immunity provides a balanced response against all 5 proteins. Variants are mutating with the spike. Natural immunity maintains a balanced response and can detects and fight variants better because it detect the other proteins that haven’t changed.

The key question is whether adding the vaccine to natural immunity will in some way diminish the effectiveness of non spike antibodies.

Those other proteins don’t matter.
The spike protein alone kills, without the rest of the virus.
A bit of mutation will perhaps partially disable a stronger immune response, but retain the better part of it, with or without cross-reactivity.
