[Waukesha, WI] – On Thursday, former Republican Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch formally announced her candidacy for Wisconsin Governor in 2022 on the promise of building a stronger Wisconsin after Tony Evers’ failed term in office.
Read about Kleefisch’s announcement in the news:
Fox News: Former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch on Thursday formally announced her 2022 campaign for governor, launching a Republican challenge against Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. In a video announcement shared first nationally with Fox News, Kleefisch charged that “Tony Evers’ entire term has been marked by failure and weakness.”
Breitbart: Kleefisch said she is “running because I have two kids who I want to choose Wisconsin to live their American dreams and one day raise families here.” … “We need safe communities, great education with real choice and real standards, and good-paying jobs.”
Wisconsin Right Now: Former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch formally announced her run for Wisconsin governor on Sept. 9, 2021, slamming Gov. Tony Evers as a weak failure in a video that cites his handling of the Kenosha riots, unemployment benefits, and other issues.
AP: Former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch launched her campaign for governor on Thursday by likening herself to former President Donald Trump and deriding the Democratic incumbent as a weak failure. The Republican told a couple hundred supporters at an envelope factory where her father used to work that if Trump could overcome the odds to win in 2016, “friends, we can do it. No more failed, incompetent and chaotic leadership.”
Wisconsin State Journal: Speaking to more than 100 supporters at Butler’s Western States Envelope Co., where her father used to work, Kleefisch, 46, targeted “weak leadership” from Evers in his first term…
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch jumped into the race for governor Thursday with a promise to hire more cops, a call for lower taxes and an attack on Gov. Tony Evers for shuttering businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. ‘Today I announce to you that he may shut down our schools, he may shut down our economy, he may shut down our churches, but today we begin to shut down Tony Evers,’ Kleefisch said.
Washington Examiner: Staking out a conservative platform of safety, individuality, and economic freedom, former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch announced her plan on Thursday to run for governor and unseat liberal Gov. Tony Evers. “What we’ve seen from Tony Evers is a man who epitomizes weak leadership, and Wisconsin deserves better,” she said in an interview.
The Hill: Former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch (R) on Thursday announced that she will run for governor in the Badger State next year, handing Republicans a prominent candidate in their effort to unseat Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.
NBC News: Rebecca Kleefisch, who served as Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor under Gov. Scott Walker, announced Thursday that she will seek the state’s Republican nomination for governor next year. “I’m a mom, a cancer survivor and someone who’s had to clip coupons to help pay the bills every month,” Kleefisch said in a launch video. “I’m on your side because I’ve walked in your shoes.”
Are you a thumbs up?
She’s a good one, and I will be backing her in the primaries. Wish Walker would come back to run but I suspect he will run against Baldwin for the Senate seat in 2024.
Keep an eye on this campaign. She SHOULD be able to mop the floor with Evers. Cannot WAIT for the debates! :)
She is definitely the right woman for the job, at the very right time. You’ll all love her.

At our 2016 Lincoln Day dinner she sat next to me in guests seating.
We are all more familiar with Wisconsin political figures because of that attempt to recall your state Senators and then the governor and Lt. governor, then that Supreme Court race (where the challenger declared victory before votes had been counted and she may have actually fallen back behind while she was giving her victory speech). The whole nation was glued to those races - talk radio, forums, etc.
There was a special election for a House race in Georgia where everyone did the same some years later. We seem to have lost that focus on things like the California recall and other special elections since then...like they are an afterthought, even though they could have national implications.
Can she win? That’s all that matters.
There’s more: Is she the top candidate?
Yes & Yes. No one else has announced yet, so I’m waiting to see who else shows up, but I don’t think she’ll have any competition in a primary. I’m not hearing any rumbles from the WI DNC about anyone wanting to run against Evers (D, WI) either.
She has an awesome ground crew and campaign already in place throughout the state. She is a tireless campaigner. She’s been planning this for quite some time. She knows how to campaign; used to be a TV newscaster so her public speaking skills are superb.
She really IS who she says she is. I can’t think of one scandal related to her in any way, shape or form. She was a terrific Lt. Governor for Wisconsin and has helped fill something like 22 elected seats in various capacities with Conservatives in Wisconsin since she left office.
And the Socialist Democrats in this state hate her. She’s so ‘EXTREME.’ And when that’s all they have, they’ve got bupkiss! :)
She’s almost as big of a Cheerleader for our state as I am, LOL! I’ll be supporting her 100%!
An important state we need. 5 hours 9 responses. Where’s the excitement?
Well, it’s a Saturday and it IS 9/11. I’ll keep posting about her right up until she’s my new Governor. Don’t worry. :)
Wish you well.
