Did 9/11 Change Anything?
19FortyFive ^ | 9/9/2021 | Salvatore Babones

September 11, 2001 was a preventable tragedy in a long line of preventable tragedies. So was the disorganized withdrawal from Kabul, which could have been prevented if the Biden administration hadn’t put too much faith its evaluation of the durability of the Afghan government, and instead held onto Bagram as an insurance policy. Seven decades of preventable tragedies have taken a heavy toll on American lives, American treasure, and the American psyche. They have done little to change the structure of American power. There is no denying that 9/11 changed the lives of millions of people, mostly for the worse. But in the broader scope of history, it didn’t change a thing.

Everyone who supported the Patriot act, or either of the wars, should hang.

...the Biden administration hadn't put too much faith its evaluation of the durability of the Afghan government...

The former President of Afghanistan told Traitor Joe in a phone call his country was being overrun by an invasion from Pakistan. Joe told him to lie about it.Joe knew. He just didn't care.

Yes. 9/11 gave the statists a pretext to obviate the Constitution and to impose the totalitarianism we increasingly live with each day.

“Seven decades of preventable tragedies have taken a heavy toll on American lives...”

That’s because the Union Government is run by some of the most pathetic incompetent politicians on the earth.

I’m not saying that that action was correct, but not all military interventions require congressional approval. Most of our engagements over the last 245 years in fact did not have congressional approval, much less a formal declaration of war. I might agree that the events of 9/11 made such actions more palatable to the general public, but you can’t say they made them possible.

Yes, we now have the Patriot Act, DHS, and TSA.

Who needs freedom anyway?...

I would also add that we have many trillions more in debt as a result of 9/11 given our rapid military victories that were turned into a nation building “game of thrones” in the sandbox that became a cash cow for the left.

“not all military interventions require congressional approval”

That depends on who you ask. You’ll get a different answer, for example, if you check for one in the Constitution, versus asking a lawyer or politician.

“I might agree that the events of 9/11 made such actions more palatable to the general public, but you can’t say they made them possible.”

At the least, it made politicians not really bother much to go through the motions anymore. At least when we decided to cross the border into Laos and Cambodia during Vietnam, without authorization, we tried to keep it a “covert” operation so we could deny our involvement. With Syria, we didn’t bother, everyone knew exactly what we were doing and we even held press conferences to boast about it.

The Islamic Mandate to convert the World to Islam march will not end.....so far Western Nations are assisting that mandate. Mosques and Islamic Community centers are being built in every city and even small communities....and they aren’t gearing up to just practice their ideology.

The Constitution is pretty clear. Only Congress can declare war, but the president is commander in chief. Thus Washington called out the militia to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion, parts of the Barbary Wars were fought without congress, Reagan attacked Grenada, etc.

Well, Bill Clinton may have been the first President to question what the definition of “is” is, but he wasn’t the first to question what the definition of “war” is.

9/11 exposed just how inept these government agencies are at defending this country and how opportunistic they are at stealing rights from citizens.
