Chuck Schumer brought HR1 – SR 1 to the floor around 3:30 a.m. after the Senate had concluded 15 hours of amendment votes on a $3.5 trillion budget resolution. In the dead of night, Schumer sought to pass the federal overhaul of elections by unanimous consent, according to the Houston Chronicle. Only one objection by a senator was required to stop the process. In a roughly 15-minute back-and-forth, Cruz tanked Schumer’s attempt to force the election bill through the Senate.

Rita, you’ve got your facts a bit mixed up. Like bigly.
BS. It was the RNC that had just nominated Trump and Cruz was given a chance to speak. He was expected to endorse Trump and should have done so (hint-Cruz had lost by then). Luckily for Cruz, Trump campaigned for him when he found himself in a tough battle with Beto. Cruz is playing ball now, but that RNC speech was a serious faux pas.
I voted for Cruz (who won) in the Texas Primary. All else being equal, I think he would have been every bit as teflon as Trump has been, able to take the s**t given him by the Left and throwing it back to them 10 fold. Politics is nasty, even within Party primaries. Get used to it.
Standing “O” Senator Cruz!
You have only some wishful thinking going on, there, devoid of substance, facts, experience or even knowledge.
Try again, sweet. Give us something. (Anything.) Something to at least work with? 🙄
No, ma’am, I am not your personal tutor. If you choose to interpret facts as fantasies, there’s probably not much you could learn from anyone. You may even be aware enough to wonder why reality so often seems different from what you want it to be.
But, good luck to you.
It was that easy huh?
>>>They only needed one objection. After that it was over.<<<
True, but that isn’t the point.
Why didn’t every other Republican stand up and support Senator Cruz when it happened? It’s called Optics.
The DEMONCRATS know how to back up each other while the Republicans wait to see if the guy who stands up gets a Bullet from the Leftist Media.
It’s been great, but the Republic is over.
And you declare all this, how,... when, where, because, if, etc.?
What “tutors” “taught” you all this hide away debate style, behind your psychology klaptrap?
Where you say things you can’t defend, with more things that you know even less about than you did with the first.
Stop digging and run along.
Headline - Canadian saves America’s Bacon...
Give it up, Rita. You are incapable of learning while your mind is that closed.
Oh, by the way, did you have any comments about the actual topic of the thread?
Uh, “no”.
SOP is just not that extraordinary, is it?
Every resolution comes with an objection clause for any oppo.
The objector can be assigned, or volunteer, (especially if they’re running for office).
Did you believe something special or unusual happened?
Rita, I feel for you. That’s a very bleak and cynical world you’ve created to live in.
Ping to self for later viewing.
Well done Senator Cruz.
Once it became obvious that Trump was going to be the nominee, I was all in for Trump. At that point, Cruz went into never-Trump mode. He was allegedly upset that Trump insulted his wife. But this was after some Cruz PAC (not necessarily connected directly to Cruz) made remarks about Melania being little more than a nudie model. Cruz also foolishly named Carly FioRINO as his potential running mate.
Once the RNC nominated Trump, Cruz should have been the good soldier and endorsed Trump. It's what one is supposed to do at a convention. I was screaming at the TV as Cruz made his "vote your conscience" speech. If voting one's conscience meant anybody other than Trump, then he was suggesting voting for Hillary. I remember Tucker looking stunned after Cruz's speech, and he said something like "I've never seen anybody destroy their own political career like that". Fortunately, Cruz came around and supported Trump for the 2016 election. But his antics certainly did not help him in the race against Beto.
But getting back on point, Cruz was not being trashed on FR for daring to run against Trump. He was trashed for putting his ego (or hurt feelings) ahead of country and party when he made that ill-advised RNC speech. At a time where the party needed to present a united front, Cruz was sowing discord. Unfortunately, some FReepers still have not gotten over it. I supported Cruz in his last election and do think he is one of our best senators. But that night at the RNC was a huge mistake for him.
No what you Cruz hating Freepers say, I bet your Senator was fast asleep, again.
Ted Cruz for President of Texas……
Because he is the only one with cajoles enough to go against these radicals.
Cruz for Texas President!!
See Cruz steps up and people like you still will not give him full credit. Where were your Senators? Fast asleep I bet counting their I’ll gotten gains
I never bashed Cruz, I bashed the entire political theater that is DC. Cruz was the perfect political foil in that scenario for a lot of reasons. It was no accident he was chosen and not my POS Senator. Cruz is the GOP designated Pitbull, Kennedy the folksy elder Statesman, Lindsey G. is the GOP “can't we all just get along” Senator etc... Same on the RAT side. Schumer is the evil Emperor and Pelosi is Darth Vader, Manchin is the reasonable pro-American RAT etc.... They all act out a political role, for our benefit, while they get rich, party together, drink, share stock tips and laugh at us the unwashed masses. If you believe it is otherwise, I have a Bridge for Sale, you may be interested.
