In Part I, I introduced my story: I explained how I got into hard rock/ heavy metal music; mentioned some of the music I loved (and still do); noted the sea change in America–from relative innocence to corruption, ushered in through huge music festivals such as Woodstock and Altamont; and I broached darker elements in the music, including outright Satanic messages and images.
In Part 2, I told a personal story of how corruption overtook my innocence–how sex, drugs, and rock & roll worked together by building on EXISTING, unresolved issues in my life, thereby opening up a “gateway” to hell.
Today, in the conclusion of this series, I will describe a period in my life that scared the hell out of me–it actually was a shocking wake-up call letting me know I was on the WRONG path, and that I needed to change quick.
I will also offer a way to return to innocence for those of you who desire it. There are many people in today’s society who have been corrupted but have grown to enjoy that corruption. This series is NOT for you.
In Part 2 of this series, I related how once I left my parents’ home, I was then “free” to encourage the corruption planted in me long ago to “flower.” And flower it did.
I got a job at a medical laboratory testing blood serum. The lab was known as quite the “party” place. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll were readily available. I partook of them all.
Graveyard “Hell” I had a “graveyard” shift, and for those of you who don’t know what that is, it meant I worked all night. One positive was that I was able to read Steinbeck, Hemingway, London, and other great writers while I waited for my samples to run through the machine.
I’d always loved to read since I was a kid–checking out stacks of books at the neighborhood library. Libraries… so underrated! But I digress…
A negative to the lab job is that, after a long night at work, I would come home to my cheap apartment in Reseda (San Fernando Valley) and have trouble sleeping. So, when blackout curtains weren’t enough, I started taking bong hits (for the uninitiated: a water pipe that cooled marijuana smoke) until I was comfortable enough to sleep.
Big mistake.
Oh, I didn’t have any trouble falling or staying asleep at that point. I had the opposite problem: my sleep was too deep.
Once I fell into a deep sleep, I would have vivid dreams, sometimes involving sexual situations. That was enjoyable enough, but it was what happened AFTERWARDS that scared the hell out of me.
Because the sexual situations in my dreams almost always led to dark dreams–literally shadowy dreams where I could not see an enemy attacking me. …And sleep paralysis. …And other jarring experiences.
Essentially, I had gone deep into dreams to escape unpleasant realities, but I had escaped so far that I came out on the other end of illicit sex fantasies into a hell that was much harder to face than any unpleasant reality.
Sex, drugs, and rock and roll had literally become a GATEWAY TO HELL!
Forbidden Fruit There is something in the sex, drugs, and rock and roll experience that “opens the eyes” of those who participate in it. It is the opportunity to gain “knowledge” like God. Human beings have great difficulty resisting this kind of temptation. Remember what the Serpent told Eve in the Garden…
For God doth know that in the day ya eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:5 KJV This is why LSD was handed out like candy in places like Woodstock–to corrupt naive young people.
The Sixties and Seventies in America were the “setup” decades: There was a certain innocence–or rather–there was a certain appearance of innocence during those decades. Those of us who remember those decades often look back at them in fondness, but only because they were our formative time, and because those decades only seem innocent in comparison to today’s times, where “sin” has fully flowered.
Those times represented America’s biting of the apple.
If you watch a movie from the Seventies, you may notice (in comparison to, say, the Fifties) the commonness of casual sex (sex outside of marriage). Or then again, you may not, as this is also rampant today.
But there’s something about sin: It never stops–it evolves into a greater sin! Casual, heterosexual sex became bi-sexual, then homosexual sex, homosexual marriage, pedophilia, and bestiality. In other words, there is always a new frontier where evil is concerned. Exploration, and the pushing of societal boundaries of right and wrong, are always part of the experience.
Where We Are Now And now, we’re at the point where many of us can see that this sin has infected our entire society (and world) to the point of impending destruction. In the beginning of our “sin journey,” we only saw the “up” side–the pleasure side–that side that appealed to our selfishness.
But now the bill is due.
Let’s look at some of the results of our “choices”: Since Roe V. Wade made abortion-on-demand legal in the U.S., OVER 63 MILLION UNBORN CHILDREN HAVE BEEN MURDERED IN THEIR MOTHER’S WOMBS!
And just think of the millions upon millions of neglected children in America alone–due to the utter selfishness of American parents. How many young souls have been destroyed, so that we can have our experiences and things?
And what about the sex trafficking that is rampant in America and worldwide? This didn’t just come out of nowhere! It is an industry that has fed a sick appetite that just keeps growing.
Because the evil that engulfs us is so obvious now, it is an opportunity to do a serious gut check as a nation. In fact, if we refuse to look at ourselves in the cold light of reality, then America as we know it will surely die.
A Way Back… A Way Out The antidote to corruption is innocence.
Innocence is something that we tend to think of as a one-time thing: i.e.: we are born innocent, we live and become corrupt, and then we die. But it doesn’t have to be like that.
When I was young, I remember closing my eyes one night while lying in bed–not to sleep–I wasn’t tired yet.
And with my eyes closed, I continued to “look out”–I saw light from within, and sparkling lights moving across the front of my eyelids. I had “accidentally” discovered an inner world that grew to become a foundation for living.
I speak in more detail about this foundation HERE.
It is so important to build OUR OWN foundation–one that emanates from INSIDE of us, connecting us to the Source of good. Today’s world has become so corrupt, that to use it as your foundation will ENSURE your destruction!
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2 KJV My friends, it is time to see things as they are. In fact, it is crucial that we do so.
I’m not saying we can’t enjoy good music–I do! But sex (casual, outside of marriage), drugs (taken to “expand” our mind or dull our senses), and rock and roll (any music that encourages corruption of mind, body, and soul) have proven themselves beyond the shadow of a doubt, to be reliable gateways to hell!
Combined–they are a straight path to destruction.
Keep in mind that they work by drawing on our existing traumas and unresolved judgments. This is how they latch on.
Keep in mind the antidote to corruption.
I wish you well–NOT hell!

well you better burn all your rock albums then, and while you are at it throw a few books on the fire too.Might I suggest the book,,song of solomon? its too sexy for any right minded person to read.
Good luck. I’ve been playing guitar(trying!) since 1962 on and off and in several bands over the years. Been offered but never did partake in the things that lead to demise of folks spirits. A small compromise just one time in your core can lead to a lifetime of darkness. I still play to this day at open jams and with a couple friends for some gigs and still don’t fall prey to these calls. Even booze. Of course there are a lot less of those calls. :-}

Rock and roll can be inspirational and spiritually uplifting. It all depends on the message.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Good for you, rktman. Nothing’s worth the price of your soul.
Not even that fiddle made of gold. LOL!
Pretty much what those televangelists preach on; SAM - sex, alcohol and money, okay, add in drugs to that.

Is this your blog? It’s excellent. Put eloquently into words my experience.
Yes, stevio, this is my blog. Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. There were many, I’m sure, who had a similar experience. It just doesn’t seem to get talked about much.
