Simone Biles on Tuesday withdrew from the Olympic women’s gymnastics competition due to concerns about her mental health. Now, the most decorated female gymnast is receiving an outpouring of criticism and vitriol from people who couldn’t do so much as a cartwheel if their lives depended on it.

I don’t see anyone talking about the non stop commercials from NBC building her up into some sort of super gymnast. She may simply not be accustomed to that amount of pressure to perform flawlessly.

Maybe her desire to compete is less than her fear of injury or paralysis. The speed and vector forces involved in the vault are incredible. Any minor mistep or landing error can cause major cartilage or ligament damage.
As elders we’re failing the young by not putting down the predators that stalk and prey upon innocence.
This girl was sexually abused by the team physician for the US women’s national gym team, who also abused dozens of other girls. I’m sure she’s carrying around some trauma from that abuse, and she owes the US women’s national gym team nothing - if they want their team members to be stronger mentally, maybe don’t hire pedophiles who sexually abuse them.
Are we allowed to state the obvious? There was so much pressure put on this extraordinary young athlete because she is black and doesn’t subscribe to the grievance dogma required by the progressive masters. Her whole life has been one of achievement and merit, Now. She is expected to either embrace grievance for her accomplishments and accept the lie of “institutional racism” or perform as a trained monkey for guilt ridden white progressives and accept her token role as a ‘pet’ for the progressive race hustlers, I don’t blame her one bit for quitting. She earned every success without a benevolent white master handing her affirmative action points and the progressives can’t bear she earned it all on her own. That is hell on a young woman’s mind. Progressives ruin everything.

She is a fantastic athlete, the best.
I don’t know what’s going on with her but with her history and her hard work, she deserves all the understanding that we can give.
She deserves support until she tells us that’s not what she wants or kicks sand in our face.
well..they are starting to blame the olympic committee for not “doing enough”....how about just dropping womens gymnastics from the games...getting sick and tired of hearing about all this garbage year after year...these poor girls this..these poor girls that.... Enough already....its like a constant LIFETIME channel-fest...is it really worth all this?.....just drop the damn sport...

I am ashamed that’s so many people are so ignorant of the physical effects of sexual abuse thatRear their devastating heads as people grow older. No one volunteers for it, and being a gymnast does not make you immune.
Her ability to recognize the danger to herself is phenomenal.

I watched the stream of the event the prior morning. She just didn’t have it and you mess up in that kind of event, can lead to a serious injury. This isn’t like a basketball player suddenly going cold at shooting in a game.
Does seem like a very CCP attitude. Was under the impression we did not do stuff for the “collective” but it is becoming the “USSA” and some people buy into that crap.

If the team came home with zero medals, I couldn’t care less. I haven’t spent a minute watching this garbage. This biles character flaking out on her team is the least surprising thing I’ve heard, but it is amusing and fitting that NBC made her the face of their advertising campaign.
By backing out, she let another gymnast take her spot.
