Following the adoption of legislation letting inmates identify their sex and choose where to be housed, risky sexual behavior has become rampant in California women’s penitentiaries, according to an inmate activist.
At the California Institution for Women in Chino, for example, HIV positive transgender “women” are having sex with biological women, said Amber Jackson, an inmate there.
“What kind of human being would intentionally cause harm by placing a number HIV-infected, anatomically male prisoners among the female prisoners?” Jackson asked.
In September, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the bill, authored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), requiring California to house inmates in prisons based on what gender they identity themselves as.
The legislation, which went into effect in January, allows for exceptions based on security concerns, but Wiener, at the time of the signing, said he didn’t expect it to be used frequently.
“It’s just a false narrative about transgender people and about transgender women in particular that they’re somehow not really women and are just trying to scam their way into women’s bathrooms or facilities in order to do bad things,” Wiener said at a press conference.
Jackson, awaiting parole after a life sentence for assault, has choice words for the San Francisco politician.
“It seems Senator Scott Weiner’s destiny is to help spread HIV among the poor and the justice-impacted women in California,” she wrote in a Santa Monica Observer opinion piece this week.
“Personally, living this out, I’m trying not to become depressed by the presence of these men. It’s hard to believe nobody stepped up to stop this? We’ve been abandoned. We’re now prey for men.”
Jackson said that the biological men have engaged in risky behavior since admittance to the Corcoran penitentiary. So much so that condoms are now being dispensed at the women’s prison, she said.
Only 5.6%? So, the women inmates commit 94.4% of sexual assaults?
Yes. This includes lesbian rape by coercion and sticking a bottle in someone to torture them.
