Frankly, part of wonders what might generate an email from MS, considering how many times I've been 'disciplined' for my choice/use of language on the Xbox platform... /s
Flagging it is one thing, its a problem when they use artificial intelligence to rewrite your documents to be “less offensive.”
Imagine finding gender neutral language has replaced your thesis document from 20 years ago.
Under the pictured “Options for “Vocabulary””...is there a “Woke” box you can uncheck...or maybe “Tell Microsoft to stuff it” box you can check?
Tay was an artificial intelligence chatter bot that was originally released by Microsoft Corporation via Twitter on March 23, 2016;
it caused subsequent controversy when the bot began to post inflammatory and offensive tweets through its Twitter account, causing Microsoft to shut down the service only 16 hours after its launch.
[1] According to Microsoft, this was caused by trolls who “attacked” the service as the bot made replies based on its interactions with people on Twitter.[2]
That’s not woke, and profanity has been in the flag list for Word for like 25 years. They consider themselves a business tool, and you’re not supposed to cuss in business communication.
This may drive people to OpenOffice.org.
If you’re a home user, it has everything you need.
I recently heard “Money for Nothing” on the radio. They blocked out one word repeatedly:
Now look at them yo-yo’s that’s the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain’t workin’ that’s the way you do it
Money for nothin’ and chicks for free
. . .
See the little ______ with the earring and the makeup
Yeah buddy that’s his own hair
That little ______ got his own jet airplane
That little ______ he’s a millionaire
. . .
No more “faggot” in that song. Censorship is here, and it’s in full bloom.
Oh you poor thing. Do you need to see a therapist or be put on some anti-anxiety meds?
So maybe Microsoft should worry less about PC grammar, and more about making a product that doesn’t drive people crazy.
Which version of Office are you running? I have 2016 Pro and replicated the sentence adding one intentionally misspelled word and the alleged offensive word. It suggested a correction for the misspelled word but accepted dumbasses.
I got to the office early in the morning, sat at his computer, and added an item to the auto-correct dictionary in MS Word. Whenever he typed his name in a document, it automatically replaced it with “D!ckhead.”
The best part of it was that auto-correct wasn’t commonly used in those days. It may have even been turned off in the normal MS Word configuration. So this guy had no idea what the hell had happened … but he was absolutely certain that I was the one who did it. LOL.
Did you mean "Biden and Harris"?
Interesting. Still clinging to Word 2010 despite MS’s threats to not provide security patches some time ago (they still are). “Dumbass” flies through the spell checker without a problem, and it’s not part of my added words.

Yep, that’s autocorrect for ya.
I tell my students to turn it off — when they use it they learn nothing, as they just click on the suggested fix without thinking.
I was typing up a Word version of a travel journal from a trip I made a few years ago. Was typing about the black panther I saw at a zoo and MS kept capitalizing black panther!!
Two words:
Office 2003. Lean. Not woke.

The non-Woke version of the feature would include the option “my readers aren’t liberal pussies so accept this word”.
The Word grammar checker suggested I change “black Mustang” to “African-American Mustang.”
