The conservative Presbyterian Church in America voted Thursday to disqualify all gay men from serving in its ministry.
The 1,400-400 vote to change its governing document came at the denomination’s 48th General Assembly, held this week in St. Louis.
The rule change, known as “Overture 23,” will go to local church bodies known as “presbyteries” for a vote before a second round of convention balloting next year that would place the language in the denomination’s “Book of Church Order,” which governs PCA practice....

Stand for the truth
there is a prominent PCA pastor in St. Louis who is upset over this vote.
He is homosexual but celibate. He says if homosexuals are celibate, they should be able to lead churches. (I am pretty sure he said he was homosexual AFTER being put in his current station, though I could be wrong.)
I think the assembly made the correct decision. Should not have even been that close.
Reformed ping?
Actually surprised by this vote. Thought Presbyterians fairly liberal...
Uh oh. They are going against the established church. /smirk.
This is excellent news and good ministry for real Christians who are tempted in this area. They need a strong consistent biblical position, not excuses and equivocation.
Praise God
“Those who profess an identity (such as gay Christian,’ ‘same-sex attracted Christian,’ ‘homosexual Christian,’ or like terms) that undermines or contradicts their identity as new creations in Christ, either by denying the sinfulness of fallen desires (such as, but not limited to, same-sex attraction) or by denying the reality and hope of progressive sanctification, or by failing to pursue Spirit-empowered victory over their sinful temptations, inclinations, and actions are not qualified for ordained office.”[snip]
“…Careful reflection must be given to his practical struggle against sinful actions, as well as to persistent sinful desires. The candidate must give clear testimony of reliance upon his union with Christ and the benefits thereof by the Holy Spirit, depending on this work of grace to make progress over sin. … While imperfection will remain, he should not be known by reputation or self-profession according to his remaining sinfulness (e.g., homosexual desires, etc.), but rather by the work of the Holy Spirit in Christ Jesus.”
There are strong Bible believing Presbyterian denominations. Naparc.org lists them.
1970s? Probably even as late as the early 2000s.
Who’s “they”?
The next step should be to expel the 400. 1 Thess 4:1-8 says those 400 have rejected God.

Any idea why they had to deal with this issue?

What’s going on here?
Catholic here, but I must say that I admire and respect this Church for having the strength to stand up against the unnatural actions of some.
YES, it is unnatural.
Good!
The unrepentant should be ministered to, not ministering!
Pooper chute follies
Not this Presbyterian denomination. The PCUSA are the liberals. The PCA (full disclosure: it’s my own denom.) broke away from them (in 1982, I think) over numerous theological issues.
What about women?
