Beth Palmer was 17 and dreaming of becoming a singer in March 2020 when the United Kingdom went into lockdown because of the coronavirus. One month later, she was dead.

"She was a wonderful, wonderful daughter. She was just funny, she lit up the room.," said Mike Palmer, Beth’s father. "She was so affectionate and loving as well. She basically had the world at her feet. She had everything, everything to live for.”

Palmer didn’t die of the coronavirus. She took her own life.

An aspiring singer and vocal student at the Access Creative College in Manchester, Palmer crumbled in isolation. Her family states that she had previously shown no signs of struggling with her mental health. However, she claimed the mandated stay-at-home order felt like centuries.

"She couldn't finish college, she couldn't go out and see her friends. She felt as though this three-month lockdown was to her 300 years,” her father said in a video that went viral last year.

Unable to finish college, see her friends, or pursue her passion, the usually vivacious and affectionate Palmer became obsessive in her fear that the lockdown would never end....

Heck I’m an older dude and social media depresses me. Sometimes I have to step away from it for days.

Spot on.
Get them off the damn iPhone and iPad.
Get into 4H, part time work, church clubs, reading clubs, anything other than staring at their “likes” and worshipping Cardi B.

The human is a social animal.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S016503271831694X (Feb 2019 - shortly before Covid, so it’s not something that was conjured up just to show the negative effects of all this social distancing BS) Babies that get fed, washed, medically cared for etc. but lack physical touch tend to die more often and there are numerous cases or situations that demonstrate this: such as orphanages.

It’s not something you can fix with telemedicine or pills.

It’s something that is hardwired into us.

Why do you think folks that spend a lot of time in solitary confinement end up nuts? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitary_confinement (look at effects - wiki lists a lot of various studies and data collection)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_of_despair (tests in the 1950s - today not PC and would not be allowed).

As much as we want to pretend we are loners, independent and tough... we need other people. Not just for their work/effort, but for the relationship/companionship. Completely alone, even if free, it will screw with your mind eventually.

“Heck I’m an older dude and social media depresses me. Sometimes I have to step away from it for days.”

I stepped away about 2 years ago and look only at a few specific people for news every so often. Life has been better.

But wait, isn’t FR a form of social media? A Stone Age form yes, but a form!

It really hit home. I watched a video recently about two small towns, one in New Mexico close to the border, and another small town right across the border in Texas.

New Mexico, which is a completely blue state, has been in strict lockdown, and schools could not have sports or attend schools.

Just across the border, perhaps 10 miles away in Texas, that small town had schools open, and were allowing sports like football.

A young man in the New Mexico high school was in his senior year and a great college prospect. He couldn’t play, couldn’t be seen by scouts, and he ended up committing suicide.

Shameful. Just shameful. I bloody hate Leftists. To them, this young man who took his own life, was just an egg to be broken in the making of their Leftist omelet.

Beyond the increase in suicides, many young children are going to be psychologically affected. Imagine a 1 or 2 year-old growing up in a world where when they interact with people in the outside world, their faces are covered and the child can’t read the person’s expression. That has to have a negative effect developmentally.

One thing for sure. If Mao cause the death of 10 million to establish the CCP, the Democrats are probably willing to surpass that number to establish their perfect US socialist democratic “Republic”.

I read an article that covered those events.

From stopping normal life for young people to isolating the elderly beyond all reasonable precaution, there has been so much unnecessary misery.

I noticed when I was volunteering at Cub Scout camp last week that kids aged 6 to 10 have almost zero ability to understand speech. They just stare at you blankly while you say, for example, “Drop those arrows to the ground!” over and over.

I was surprised at how bad it was, even compared to two years ago, when, “Point your toes toward the post in front of you,” resulted in actions making it seem they had no idea what “toes” or “post” or “toward” meant. I have to walk up the firing line, standing by each one in the correct stance, and say, “Make your feet like mine!”

the article says one month after lockdown, she passed. But the father refers to a 3-month lockdown

But the real question is, what was the environment in the home pre-pandemic that the gal couldn’t last 30 days? Was there no computer or phone for the girl to contact her friends?
