It's the lie that won't die and the one that is designed to prevent mask-wearing from being relegated to the ash heap of history. The same experts who last year predicted a "twindemic" of COVID and the flu flooding the hospitals together, completely missing the natural phenomenon of viral interference, are now crediting the lack of flu and other respiratory viruses to mask-wearing. But the disappearance of flu-like illnesses occurred even at times and in places where mask-wearing was uncommon, and its subsequent re-emergence occurred even in places where mask-wearing was still in vogue....
Like most ideas promoted by leftists, the mask theory about the flu sounds good for about one second, but if you allow your brain to think past that political impulse of groupthink, their entire theory falls apart. In fact, it's quite evident that the disappearance of the flu and some other respiratory viruses (but not all) is due to viral interference, a phenomenon completely out of our hands.
Here are four points to consider:
1) How can masks work so spectacularly for the flu and RSV but fail so miserably for COVID?...
2) Why did rhinovirus colds continue while coronavirus colds stopped?...
3) Disappearance of viruses coincided with circulation of COVID, not COVID response...
4) Flu disappeared in countries and regions that did not have widespread masking....

Of course, we will never know how bad if 2020 would have been a not so bad, average, or bad flu year.
What I have yet to see is a good explanation for why countries like Korea, Japan, and Taiwan avoided COVID.
The theory for a time was it was all about masks, but then the rest of the world started wearing them and it didn’t make much of a difference.
Our species is an embarrassment.
I had much greater respect for “Americans” before this began. They showed themselves to be overwhelmingly cowards who would subjugate their freedom for the protection of their government. I live in SoCal and it is not unusual for me to be the only person in a store not wearing a mask, and we are about three weeks beyond the mandate.

COVID cured the flu but caused people to die in auto accidents, be murdered, fatal stokes, heart attacks, commit suicide, etc.
The majority of “COVID deaths” were actually caused by the flu. The flu did not disappear and anyone that thinks it did is a goddamn idiot.

The problem is, for years, CDC exaggerated the death rate for the flu.
Maybe they stopped exaggerating the flu death rate in 2020.
Renaming every illness and death covid, did not get rid of the flu.

But, seriously, the ‘rona could have scared the flu bug into retreat.
We will never know if 2020 would have been one of the bad flu years.

If I’m understanding correctly here, the theory (”viral interference”) is that the immunity people developed against corona also helped them fight off the flu?
Interesting theory. Maybe it’s true.
The handwashing and the cleaning and all the extra caution might have helped, too.
But are the flu numbers even accurate? Every year, about 500 people are confirmed to die from the flu. Then the CDC estimates that many thousands more actually died from it, just to convince people to take the flu shot.
So... is the CDC playing with us again?
