Unfounded fears that the coronavirus vaccine causes infertility, a need to question authority and politicization of vaccines are cited as leading reasons for lagging rates of youth vaccination in Ohio and across the country.
“It’s frustrating,” said psychologist Juanita Martin, executive director of counseling and accessibility at the University of Akron. “Young people have a sense of, ‘I’m invincible, I’m young, I’m healthy — nothing is going to happen to me.’ The wider implications just don’t resonate with them.”
The fast-spreading Delta variant is infecting younger people worldwide. This makes vaccinating this population more important.
The national trends also are seen in the Buckeye State.
While vaccination rates for Ohioans exceed 70% for every age group over 60 – as high as 84% for those in their early 70s - based on the number of people receiving at least one shot, they are much lower for younger age groups. Through Thursday, the rates were 39% for those in their 20s and about 30% for those ages 12 to 19....
The White House admitted this week that the country will miss its target of 70% of American adults having had at least one vaccination shot by July 4, in part because of vaccine resistance among 18-to 26-year-olds.
“Many younger Americans have felt like COVID-19 is not something that impacts them and they’ve been less eager to get the shot,” White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients said during a recent news briefing.

Based on my observation, many, relative to other age groups, are still wearing a mask.
Hmm. I wonder if some think they will get in trouble for not wearing one while unvaccinated and will be caught on surveillance footage unmasked.
Maybe some are reverse-virtue signaling? By wearing the mask, they are saying I am unvaxed and damn proud of it???

A healthy young adult, with no risk factors, getting this vaccine makes little to no sense.
The odds of getting a severe case of this are astoundingly small and of having long term issues or death from it damn near infinitesimal.
It is INSANE they are pushing for universal immunization for this.... let alone doing it with experimental technology.

Why would anyone get a vaccine for a disease that is no worse than the common cold for the vast majority of young adults when the risk of complications from the vaccine is higher than the disease?
IOW, it’s based on the social aspect rather than anything to do with the medical aspect.

I can’t find it now, but a while ago some anthro egghead came out and delivered the bad news that a large percentage of refuseniks are NOT ignorant. They read primary sources, understand what they read, ask questions, and aren’t satisfied with the answers they’re getting.
That’s why Deep State is panicking.
And why it’s using anthropologists, among others, in order to try to find a way to con the refuseniks.
I expect that kind of behavior from Deep State.
They’re dictators.
But for anthropologists to go along with this, aid this, is despicable.
Just maybe the young adults know that they have 99.999998% chance of surviving COVID...even when there’s something wrong with them...versus a largely untested and unproven vaccine.

That sounds totally wrong to me… I’m damn proud of being unvaxed, and I am damn proud of not wearing a mask.
Any reverse virtue-signaling I do is accomplished simply by telling anyone within earshot: “This whole covid reaction was stupid, and I’ve said so from the very beginning”.

A person at the peak of the physical strengths will be crazy to trust experimental drugs in there system. Won’t take much to lower there 100% and cost them the gold !
Well said . I was about to write something similar. The threat is so remote to younger people, yet we have acted all along as if this virus is the return of the bubonic plague from medieval Europe.
