There are big time health care research, corporate HQ’s and other big business there now, and more is coming.

I was appalled whenI got a Christmas Card from her (I had been her guitar teacher for many years before she moved to Asheville) and she proudly included a long letter extolling the “courageous Cuban People who made their island flourish in spite of the unfair American interference in their economy”

They snort coke like what you see in “heavy metal”. These guys are crazy drug users.
They also ruined the area for i.t. work. I used to get 80 an hour in Connecticut and those same jobs are 13 an hour here.
When it comes to programming they are nasty as hell too. The Indian culture (not Indian race.. but people from India) are so supremacist that they believe that no one can program like they can. And they’re terrible at it. Coders. Not programmers. They will talk about you in hindi, and ask anyone: you speak hindi to them and they freak out. They’ll yell at you. Call you names, get real bent. They don’t think anyone but Hindus should speak it.

The quality of such workers has long been an issue in part because of the sheer quantity of bodies they’ve been pulling into their system each year, yet the top of the Indian tech workers (from IIT, etc.) has also long been elite—and still is.
I guess not surprising that Walmart is going for mass, low-end staffing.
No that’s not so. My 2008 Ford Fusion, about $110 annually, 1998 Explorer about $50.
That’s very surprising to me, given that we live here in Greenville County. Yes there’s more crime all across the country, but IMHO this is a very low crime, safe area.
