Study: Nearly 17 million COVID cases undetected in U.S. by July of last year

A study published this week claims that serological data points to the conclusion that SARS-Cov-2 was circulating much more widely in the U.S. than was thought last summer, with tens of millions of cases going undetected even as late as mid-July of last year.

The study, published in Science Translational Medicine, looked at blood samples collected between May and July of last year, measuring their seropositivity for antibodies to the SARS-Cov-2 virus.

I would copy and paste the abstract from the study, but I don’t know about the permissions for this.

Bottom line: 11K more or less randomly selected people had blood draws to test for antibodies. 304 had them. Mathwise this extrapolates to 17 million Americans.

The math doesn’t really work out to 17 million.

I guess they are taking into account in the number crunching the number of people who tested positive.

That's the most-perfidious thing about this lethal virus - that most of its "victims" aren't even aware they had it!

The massive restriction of our civil liberties and the shut-down of our economy were thus justified!

And the percentage risk of hospitalization or death drops like rock. This was never worse than the flu, but denying all medications to those unfortunate enough to test positive on a PCR test with a 97% false positive rate drove deaths up, regardless of what illness they really had (pneumonia etc.)
