Portland, Oregon is without a riot squad because 50 members resigned in protest following the indictment of a fellow officer for striking an “activist photographer.”
The left coast city has had repeated and ongoing riots since George Floyd’s death in May 2020. As you can imagine, the police force is stretched thin.

Resigned from the job, or from the riot squad? I checked the article it didn’t clarify.
I don’t see what effect this will have in future riots in Portland. They weren’t allowed to do anything as it was.
They’ll be replaced by birkenstock wearing social workers.

Portland will be getting exactly what it deserves. Just don’t send any of my tax dollars to rebuild. (Yeah, I know there is nothing that can be done about at the moment)

At this pace, there will be nothing left come the 22 election.
They are still on the payroll - for now.
Looks like they won't be going out on any riot-control missions however. The politicians in the local "Justice" system have made it unmistakably clear that Antifa rioters are untouchable, as long as they target the "right" neighborhoods.
After the coming attrition, the replacement police forces will be recruited from Antifa members. Things should get a lot quieter after that. Or at least we won't hear so much about events of the day.
Just a few grumbling Right Wing malcontents and "White Supremacists" (tm) that can be easily handled. Nothing to be concerned about. But Portland will need some more Federal bailout money. Because - shut up already!
I doubt that "voters" have any real influence over the process. We already know who counts the votes.
The left would cheerfully burn the entire country down, if they thought they could rule the ashes...

The Chief will continue to use and abuse those officers in any manner that he and the Mayor want.
Get back to me when the officers actually resign from the Hellhole city police department.
Oh wow. These cops kept siding against citizens in favor of antifa, and they thought they were covered...
