You Don't Really Believe in Catastrophic Climate Change: If you did you'd act like it.
Thoughts from the 42nd Parallel ^ | 05-28-21 | Tom Shattuck

If you actually believed that emitting carbon into the atmosphere would literally mean the end of your life you would stop doing it.

Absolutely.

Not “offset” the damage, as opulent climate luminaries like Al Gore, John Kerry and Bill Gates all claim they are doing with carbon credits, but absolutely cease contributing to the damage.

Rich progressives are always going to tell us they need to fly all over the world in order to save it.

Similarly, they need big houses. President Obama bought a colossus on Martha’s Vineyard a few years ago.

Not only does that baby juke the atmosphere with lots of carbon but it’s right on the water. Considering the seas are rising precipitously this seems unwise, but what do you and I know?

But what about normal people?

Do they, you, me actually believe that catastrophic climate change is afoot?

No way.

I think the climate is changing. People I respect tell me it is. To what extent it is and how much is man made I’m not really sure.

I do know, though, that while the loudest alarmists speak like the end is near they sure don’t act like it.

As Tim Cook pointed out yesterday on his stream.

They’re so concerned and afraid about climate change and 10 years to save the earth that they’re going to get degrees in art and work in Starbucks.

Headline is correct. I don’t believe in it and I don’t act like I do.

Anyone who seriously believed this crap would be campaigning for lengthy prison sentences for anyone obstructing construction of new nuclear plants.

How many "Global Warming" acolytes do you know of who are doing that?

The Climate Change Elites will just be like the elites under Socialism or Communism. They will ride around in their private jets, live in 10,000 sq ft mansions and eat high on the hog while the proletariat ride bicycles, live in those apartments they are building in the cities next to subway tracks and eat out of the elites garbage cans.

“Big Money” knows it’s BS. Banks, investors and big corporations are building billion dollar resorts right on beaches and waterfronts around the world. Governments know. They too are building massive projects and infrastructure right down to sea level, including China building on tiny islands and reefs in the South China Sea. Baltimore and DC are investing billions in waterfront projects, as are other oceanfront cities around the globe. You don’t invest in durable infrastructure that will soon be swallowed by the sea.

If they really believed their BS they would not be buying expensive houses by the sea. See Al Gore and Obama.

Not contradictory. They think the world is coming to an end, so the student loans finally get wiped out, and there is no point in working hard at a job that has good long-term prospects.

But isn’t the sea imminently rising and rushing inland, so that I, 1600 feet up, may someday have seaside property on the mountain?

I think the climate is changing.

The climate is ALWAYS changing.

The planet has gone from Snow Ball Earth to Tropical Steam Bath Earth and everything in between.

We can not cause it, we can not stop it.

All we can do is what we have always done.

Adapt.

And throwing away any tool that will help us do that is suicidal.

Maybe the ancient port city Ephesus (the city Paul wrote Ephesians to) will be near water again instead of being a few miles away from it (largely because the Little Ice Age lowered sea levels more than the Current Warm Trend has risen them back up).

I really can’t afford a summer home in Ephesus.
