Israeli authorities faced more violence last night after a recent spate of shootings and as tensions soar over the threatened eviction of dozens of Palestinians from East Jerusalem.
Israeli troops shot and killed two Palestinians and seriously wounded a third after they opened fire with makeshift submachine guns on a base in the occupied West Bank on Friday morning, Israel’s police said. No Israelis were injured.
That came two days after Israeli student Yehuda Guetta, 19, died in a hospital from injuries sustained in a drive-by shooting Sunday as he was standing at a bus station near the West Bank city of Nablus. Two other teenagers were wounded in the attack. Israeli forces arrested a Palestinian man in connection with the attack Thursday.
Last night it seems like a holy war started as at least 163 Palestinians and six police officers were wounded in clashes across Jerusalem, the Palestinian Red Crescent and Israeli police said.
A spokeswoman said medics opened a field hospital to treat the high number of patients.
The Red Crescent said most of the wounded were hurt in clashes at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and that most of the injuries were caused by rubber bullets. A spokeswoman said medics opened a field hospital to treat the high number of patients.
The videos that surfaced this morning show a real holy war on the streets as Israeli forces "invaded" the Al-Aqsa mosque, the 3rd most important mosque (in the Islamic world).

During the clashes n Jerusalem, an attack occurred by an Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) against the US section of the Ain al-Assad Airbase in Iraq.
Jerusalem Day, a national holiday in which Israel celebrates its annexation of East Jerusalem and religious nationalists hold parades and other celebrations in the city, also begins Sunday night. More violence is expected.
Just because something happens in Israel doesn’t make it “biblical.”
