I don’t want to agree with Jeb Bush.

But there are parts of this country that look like and operate like third world nations, and businesses won’t move there and create jobs unless there is broadband.

I know what I am talking about.

I live in Kentucky.

So how is that a FedGov responsibility? Beshear and the legislature need to get off their butts.

If those parts of Kentucky were like third world dumps before anyone even heard of the internet, then they aren’t going to get any better even if you wire the whole place with broadband internet service.

Kentucky has failed and only the Federal Mommy can save it? Why have states at all?

How long before Elon Musk turns on his satellite network and broadband internet will be available anywhere in the world?

The "rulers" make speeches while the free market zips past them. The rulers only hope is to obstruct the free market so they can profit from the labor of their betters. For example, from Economic Times

The government will ask Elon Musk-led SpaceX Technologies to apply for relevant permits under India's telecom rules before offering its Starlink satellite internet services in the country, a senior official said.

Could any of the politicians of the late 19th century have touched Tesla's or even Edison's intellect?

The reason why those places look and operate like third world nations is not due to the lack of broadband.

It’s entirely because of the character of the people who live there.

There are few places in this world more Third World that cities in the United States. They have broadband but it doesn't change their Third World status.

There are places all over the world that would be great if someone else brought in water, electricity, and broadband internet but if it's not worth it, it's not worth it. That said, Elon Musks's satellite Internet might help.
