People have often used the expression, “Is the Pope Catholic?” to mean “Yes, of course,” to state decisively there isn’t any question about whatever is being asked.
Except now, more and more, it seems like that might be a real question. Is the Pope really Catholic?

I doubt that you could find someone to disagree with you with regards to your first point, but I have pinged the only Freeper I can think of who has seriously tried to defend His Holiness in the past couple of years. He likes his green stances.
I think your second point needs a few qualifiers, but doubt that you will get too much grief on that one either.
It would be surprising if it were JP II. But this is no surprise.

This is not the Catholic Church. It is the church hierarchy. They, being mere humans, can act completely against the Church. The followers of Christ know when things do not follow Christ’s teachings.
The enemy will always try to attack good institutions from within. It is up to each individual to be knowledgeable and to know when things are off.

There was a thread sometime back where the Pope was going of on plastic forks or the like and you pointed out that advocating taking care of the environment was a good thing. The thread was largely Catholics bashing the Pope, not the sort of thing you usually hand out on, and I don’t believe anyone else knew you. I had great fun and pinged you to a couple of related threads where Francis was in need of a champion. I think I may have pinged Metmom as well, but more for the sake of the amusement of having you being “defamed” as a Papist in front of others who might appreciate the joke.

I did find you that one time.
It may do you some good in purgatory, and in the very least it was highly amusing.
And you will generally not find our Roman Catholic friends defending the Pope in the present era.
