They are finally here.
New York is officially the first state to launch a so-called “vaccine passport” program, empowering various businesses and public entities to easily deny residents service on the basis of whether or not they have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
The “Excelsior Pass” program bills itself as a “free, fast and secure way to present digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test results” with either a smartphone app that displays a scannable QR code or a code printed on a sheet of paper. While New Yorkers are not yet legally required to participate, business owners and venue operators have the option of denying entry to people without one.

The only way to fight this on an individual level is refuse to comply...
If enough people, with or without getting vaccinated refuse to “show your papers”, then it will do nothing but harm the private sector and eventually it will get dropped.
The vaccines are not FDA approved, take it to court.
So you need an ID to buy a lb of hamburger but not to vote.

Isn’t a passport old technology? Can’t we simply add nano-particles in the vaccine so a simple scan will ID those safe and those who aren’t?
What a unique way of loosing business.

Wonder how many businesses will comply.
That does not address those who are obviously being exempted from such nonsense but those, via freedom of choice, have opted out of taking any type vaccine for whatever reasons.
The issue here is that one has to have a “vaccine passport” to be able to do what the Constitution says we ALL have the right to do, not how technology wise a ‘passport’ is being administered.
My sense is that this is being dangled out there as an incentive for owners of venues with large crowds to reopen. The easiest way to refuse to comply is to not show up at the art museum or the stupid basketball game.
Let’s follow NY’s lead. They’ve done everything so well so far. What could possibly be and go wrong?!
I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to watch this charade very closely, and I suspect government is going to do the same.
Large corporations such as WalMart and Target have backed off their compliance Nazis due to conflict, and small business owners often don't bother with signage lest they lose an already precarious market share.
Forcing a vaccine passport to shop would likely mean at least a 25% loss of business. I suspect the real number will be much higher.
What happened to “my body, my choice”

I agree, even if you have been vaccinated, if enough people refuse to comply these large venues, airlines, etc...will all eventually stop requiring one..
