I admit to being one of those Americans painstakingly disinterested in anything having to do with the "royal family."
Call me a Jeffersonian, a modernist, an arrogant American, if you will. I just think the entire premise of an ordained bloodline to rule over people is a bad idea in the 21st century. To paraphrase the geniuses at Monty Python, "supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses," not some farcical bequeathing of majesty predicated upon genetic pedigree.
That's why with as much as it's dominated the headlines recently, I remained spectacularly incapable of locating even the slightest shred of interest in the most recent Harry and Meghan drama – particularly when I found out it was being arbitrated by Oprah Winfrey.
Three exceedingly, no, absurdly wealthy people sitting in splendor as they discuss how oppressed and mistreated they are? Sorry, but the list of things I wouldn't rather be doing than watching that was registering somewhere in the neighborhood of absolute zero.
But then, scrolling my Twitter feed, I came across an observation about the whole saga that caught my eye. It came from an Israeli philosopher named Yoram Hazony:

I’ll tell you why I care, though I don’t care much.
Harry and Meghan are a metaphor for millions of young people spitting on the tradition they’ve inherited, knowing neither its worth nor what they owe it.
They’re a cartoon preview of the collapse of the English-speaking world.

Lord help us!
“To paraphrase the geniuses at Monty Python, “supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses,” not some farcical bequeathing of majesty predicated upon genetic pedigree.”
Both can be extremely dangerous, and have great animus toward individual rights. Including property rights.
Hell, every right enumerated in the US constitution would be at risk under “supreme executive power”.
Whether derived from the mob, or from some plausible BS story.

Yep. It also accounts for the complete collapse of the bankable industry names of the 20th century. Inherited and bankrupted within a few generations.
I think the Brit Royal Family is a good thing to keep around. If anyone thinks there is the slightest truth to the idea that there are noble blood lines of superior people they need only observe the royals for a few days. It is sort of a public service and especially an object lesson in the fallacy of genetic superiority.
Yes it’s so true. Is any society perfect, no. But throw the baby out with the bathwater with vigor. That’s what we are seeing now.
I don’t know who to blame. I am Gen X. I feel that we are the most overlooked generation who just put our noses down, obeyed laws and followed the rules of the road to get where we are. We didn’t question. We were/are achievement oriented.
So we achieved and became successful and made our children spoiled brats who are never satisfied.
That’s all I can come up with. For the record I do not have children.
“Listen — strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.”
As worthless as Demonicrats, with only a future career as soylent green.
Somewhere, somebody has a pair of Cats named Harry & Megan.
“Harry” is a Persian known to be docile, especially so once they are neutered, “Meghan” is a Siamese known to be vocal and needy to the point of being neurotic.
Well, maybe they see it that way. I see it as a necessary ingredient to communist oppression, economic collapse, and total societal regression. But that's just me.
Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP, HELP, I’M BEING REPRESSED!
Bloody PEASANT!
Oh, what a giveaway! Did’j’hear that, did’j’hear that, eh? That’s what I’m all about! Did you see ‘im repressing me? You saw it, didn’t you?!
“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child —miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding,ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.”

Britain is governed by Parliament (not royalty). There is a House of Commons and House of Lords (Think The House and Senate in the U.S. which is based on the British Parliament).
Since the Magna Carta eons ago was signed Britain has not been ruled by the royal family. The Royal Brits are a boon to the tourism industry. and I personally adore them (with the exception of Harry & Megsy). Brits are not ruled by the royals, but they do give them a standard (with the exception of Harry & Megsy) to attempt to live by.
Ssssuushhh! Can’t you see I’m taking a selfie and I’m an influencer:-)
Personally, I could not care less about the “royal family” or any inherited title or wealth.
Wanna impress me? Be a decent human being.
Some of us, friend. Some of us.
I’m gen X with Gen Z children. They are good kids that grew up like we did. All of my Millennial nieces/nephews are totally worthless.
There's a grand super-deluxe irony on the horizon from the very nation that is world-famous for rejecting the monarchy.
Here's an interesting twist:
The two usual meanings out there for the name Mordecai are "worshiper of Mars" and "little man".
Huh? What did the ancients gnow and when did they gnome it?
It's spring. Home and garden centers are filling up with the typical outdoor "accents".
I'd keep my eye out for little green men:

Speak for yourself! my 11 year old son is the smartest and coolest guy I know! Granted I taught him about yuppies, hipsters, and commies! When he was 8, I took him to a park that is noted for its hipster population and didn;t warn him! We walked around and he asked me...”Dad...what’s wrong with these people?”...I told him “They’re hipsters, son”. he made up a song about driving your Prius as slow as you can in the left lane! Soon to be Top 40!
