Kolditz, at any rate, is right that the individuals the military considers extremists-in-waiting are mostly white Republican men—just as the corporate world does. Therein lies a fundamental problem that is only starting to come into view with its implications.
Surveys show white male Republicans, especially those without a college education, are more likely than any other group to feel “extremely proud to be Americans.” Thus, the military is treating the group that tends to feel the most patriotic as the main source of “extremist behaviors and activities” within its ranks. Instead of making the military a more unified, effective fighting force, it could cultivate a culture of distrust, resentment, demoralization—and ultimately, division.

They screw up and re-define everything. The military is but one of their latest rehabilitation “projects” that seeks to make social outcomes the #1 priority of all organizations.

Apart from senior officers, the military will endure and then ignore the top down stupidity.
I worked for the DoD for a few more years and the decline was unbelievable to watch. I was stunned to arrive at a major infantry command and found only the Regimental and one Company Sergeant Major had combat experience. A few terminal E-7s had tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The CO was a perfumed prince from the Pentagon punching his infantry command ticket required for a star. A Navy Reserve Chief's Mess I was affiliated with had more combat veterans then that infantry unit. Many of the best officers and senior enlisted I served with were gone within five years of my retirement. Good men who saw the handwriting on the wall and had no desire to participate in the new look military. One common thread of discussion is how glad we are to have served when we did and glad we left when we did.
Trump tried to reset the military to warfighters but pink perfumed princess like Mattis fought him all the way. There were some things wrong with the Vietnam, Post Vietnam military, but we worked hard, partied harder and we beat the Russians. The last War this country won was the Cold War, until Clinton, Bush, Obama and now Biden made losing okay as long as we lose with diversity.
