Every round I shot was extraordinarily expensive this weekend but, worth every penny

9mm 124gr hardball I bought less than a year ago was $280 for 1K rounds, shipped.

Hornady 208gr 300BLK SS A-Max, which I thought was steep at a buck a around is now $4.25 per shot.

Crazy. And not in a good way.

Any non-military caliber will be expensive - if you can even find them. For instance, calibers like .38 Special and .380 Auto are ridiculous.

$1.85 / round for 30-06 Garand ammo.

And I got a good deal.

I’ll use as few as possible to set the sights, then remember that every squeeze of the trigger costs $1.85.

I always thought joining a bowling league would be cheaper.

But not as much fun.

I remember buying caseloads in 2002, by the pallet, of 5.56mm NATO for 7¢/rnd, and .308 (7.62x51) for 14-16¢/rnd, and .45ACP for 18¢/rnd. I still have some of those receipts in the firearms' files. It was shipped by common carrier to my business, I'd unload with a forklift and Family and friends would divvy it up with me. Long gone day and years...

Wow, back in the 90’s I had 7,000 rounds in 12 calibers in my stash. Wonder what’s be worth now?!
