Is Biden Losing the Immigration Debate?
National Review ^ | February 28, 2021 | Steven Camarota

....One of the questions Rasmussen has been asking for the last 61 weeks is whether the government is doing too little or too much to reduce illegal border crossings and visitor overstays. As Figure 1 indicates, responses to this question shifted almost immediately once Biden won. On November 3, 40 percent of the public thought we were not doing enough to control illegal immigration, but today 55 percent think so. Since neither the question’s wording nor the method used to collect the survey has changed, it seems fair to conclude that a much larger share of the public now thinks we need to do more to stop illegal immigration....

Another interesting result from the Rasmussen poll is a large increase in the share who oppose “giving lifetime work permits to most of the estimated 12 million illegal residents” in the country (Figure 2). Why Rasmussen refers to “work permits” rather than “legal status” or “citizenship” is not clear. Nevertheless, the wording has remained constant since 2019, so the shift in responses likely reflects a real change in public sentiment.

In the poll released on February 18, 55 percent said they were strongly or somewhat opposed, compared with just 39 percent who supported the amnesty. Given that the question asks about “work permits,” perhaps the results reflect public concern over COVID-related unemployment. But unemployment has been high since March of last year, and the unemployment rate is a good deal lower now than it was back then. So it is hard to believe that the public suddenly became more concerned about that issue in just the last two months.

When the details of the administration’s amnesty bill leaked in January, the limited media coverage it received was generally positive. Nonetheless, some share of the public may have become aware....

Of course he is, but that has not stopped him yet.

He is being cursed at gas pumps all across America now too.

It does not matter. He was selected as the vehicle to put Harris in power and implement an agenda. Period. He said whatever he needed to say and let those who selected him do the rest.

The American public, including Hispanic Americans, have NEVER supported illegal immigration or amnesty.

BiXiden’s handlers only care about the results of the stolen poll.

It’s the only one that counts.

It’s cute that the author thinks public opinion matters.

It doesn’t matter what the public thinks. Biden has his executive orders pen. He’s gonna do whatever he wants to do. (Or more accurately, he’s gonna do whatever his handlers tell him to do.)

The public doesn’t even know the half of the “immigration debate”...probably not even a tenth. Does the media report on the magnitude of the human trafficking issue? Including literal sex slavery, child trafficking, literal slavery of manual labor, etc.? Of course not...it doesn’t fit the Democrat narrative that we don’t need border security. Does the media report the magnitude of the drug trafficking and other criminal cartels, violent gangs, etc. that cause incalculable human misery on both sides of the border? Of course not...for the same reason.

It is a disgrace.

Does anyone here believe that Joe Biden would have his minions tell the colonizadors that if they kill a white person they assume their ‘white privilege’?

Dems worried about voters? The millions of fake voters who cast fake Biden mail in ballots last November still strongly support open borders.

It doesn’t matter about any debate. Biden isn’t even debating. Anyone who thinks he is debating is either naive or stupid. Or both. If Biden had an independent opinion it doesn’t matter one bit. He is a figurehead puppet. I don’t know specifically who controls him but I suspect it is people who don’t even live on this continent.

At any rate, immigration policy is set by default to the least restrictive possible on in-migration. It is a consensus position on the left just like climate change. Whatever it takes to keep progressives in office.

How many R states will do what OK state legislature did, challenge on all of scrawny’s exec orders. One by one, and let the R AG’s litigate.

Can not count on the SC to thwart any of them. Let all red states with G and AG go first. Then GA. Then WI/MI/PA. Fight them all the way.
