Forbes is reporting that the House version of a $1.9 trillion COVID relief package contains “an extra perk for federal workers” that involves paid time off to stay at home with children not taking part in in-classroom instruction.
The “perk” tucked inside a bill dubbed the “American Rescue Plan Act of 2021,” is defined by critics as “a personal bailout for bureaucrats.”
While most of us wait for a one-time $1,400 stimulus payment as we struggle with employment and tending to kids which we now teach from home, federal workers dealing with the same conditions will be privy to a $570 million family leave account exclusively for them.
Eligible to dip into that account are those federal employees “unable to work” because they are caring for children not physically in school full time “due to Covid-19 precautions.”
Like the rest of us.

Finally, neighborhood families can restore the concept of "public schools" (under their control) by building and staffing non-union neighborhood schools that made this Nation's education system second to none...
Let's start rebuilding the now heavily diminished average IQ of the American citizenry...
Most students should be walking to school again... The cost savings to budgets and the environment of millions of school buses no longer roaming the Nation would be huge...
Finally, shut down and vacate the federal Department of Education and burn all its rules & regs...
They will get paid for taking off 75 work days.
90% of federal “workers” are counterproductive and should have been fired early in the Trump first term. The red-hot Trump economy could have absorbed them.
Well ,just damn! I’m just a grandmother stuck with dealing with my granddaughter that can’t deal with virtual schooling. There is a whole hour of zoom instruction each day but it is in two sections so the varmint has to stay put. I am losing what few wits I have. I gave up trying to teach her myself. She informed me that she doesn’t need to learn “stuff” because she can Google it. After the whupping she was more amiable to studying. I want my money or at least my property taxes back.

In Nashville, the city departments were all open with two shifts working at half normal staffing at 4 hours each, and getting paid full time pay and benefits. Then they raised property taxes 34%.
