It is with profound sadness and eternal gratitude that I note the passing of Rush Limbaugh today. A truly great American in all senses of that designation, a brilliant radio artist and the de facto leader of true conservatism in the United States for 30 years, he was truly one of a kind.
Rush’s wife, Kathryn, opened his radio program today with a heartfelt statement to his 25 million+ listeners. I won’t deny shedding a tear or two as I listened to it and tried to take in the impact his loss will have. Talk radio as it has existed for the last generation existed because of Rush. His influence in the country is unrivaled in the history of the media; not just of radio, but of all media in this country’s history. No other single figure even comes close.

With his passing, there is no obvious replacement, no conservative pundit capable of taking up the torch and keeping the fires of conservatism burning. With no true national voice to guide the way, the loss of this great American will be every bit as impactful as the loss of Donald Trump and his presidency.
God Bless Rush Limbaugh for all he has done for us, God Bless his family and God Bless America.

While I have had issues with Rush, especially in the recent Trump era, I must admit that I got a lump in my throat when I read the news.
While expected, the actuality/reality of it still hit me hard!
I just feel sick at my stomach and on the verge of tears. Even though I was expecting it.
I’m thinking back on when I first “met” Rush, back in the late 80s or early 90s. Where I worked, there was a little group of guys in a room by themselves who had him on the radio every day as they worked. They were doing mechanical and electrical fabrication work for myself and others, and I began to take notice of the guy they were so intently listening to. What actually got my attention were the great song parodies, then I began to notice his message, and it resonated with me.
Rest in peace, Rush. You did good.

A big ditto here. I pray Rush is with our Lord today. May his family and friends be comforted that they will be reunited with him one day. Rush is now the voice of all true Conservatives in Heaven.
In just one month we’ve lost Rush; Trump, our dear President; our republic; our nation, our culture, etc.
Very sad day. Unfortunately not unexpected with him being off the show 15 days. I assumed he was in hospice or on morphine. I prayed he was not in pain. As soon as I heard Kathryn’s Voice I knew. I pulled over to the side of the road as I did not want to lose the signal while driving. RIP Rush.
I don’t usually cry at celebrities passing, but I am. RIP, Rush. It will never be the same without you here.

To whomever posted #126. I hit the abuse button. I know the DU and others are saying vile things. I don’t need to read it on this thread. I am mourning and would like to only hear like-minded opinions.
There have been lots of famous people that have died over my lifetime. This one feels a lot more significant to me than most. I pray that God welcomes you into His Kingdom.
Same time frame here. I was in my car, on my way home from work, and found him.
God used Rush Limbaugh to bring my formerly liberal husband to conservatism. I hope to thank God and Rush one day, when we meet up in Heaven.

Thank you for posting the link. Kathryn’s voice is reassuring, as I imagine Rush would want it to be for her and for his massive audience. It must have taken buckets of grace for that dear lady to get through those words.
I am so very glad that Rush Limbaugh had Kathryn, especially as he walked through the valley. May God in Christ pour out heaping measures of unending comfort for her.

God grant he is now with Jesus, and we will see him again soon.

Rush was a kind, sweet, lovable guy, an unequaled teacher and fearless speaker of the truth. .
He belongs to the ages...
