I find Free Republic to be in a class by itself among conservative new aggregators, offering (without ads) a multitude of various articles throughout each day on the articles page in which FR provides up to a 100 word excerpt of what the poster posted. (And I myself choose to see 250 articles per page https://freerepublic.com/perl/settings page.)
These excerpts provide the reader with an idea of of what the link is about and whether it is worth opening the link (like in a new tab) whereby the user can read the rest of excerpt, and which then enables one to further surmise if it is worth following the link to read the the rest linked article.
This enables the user to quickly be informed taking a minimum of the time God gives us. However, it is the practice of many to either post just a sentence or so of an article and or carelessly copy and paste whatever is at the top of the article (sometimes even things like "see us on Facebook) rather than the meat of the article within the 300 word limit that FR is usually at least allowed, though a few are restricted to 100 words (and a rare breed only allow a link) while others have no limit.
See Updated FR Excerpt and Link Only or Deny Posting List due to Copyright Complaints for more on this, which begins with "These sites must be excerpted and linked only [300 words or less, 1/2 the words or less for short articles]:"
However, even without looking at this list, when you try to post an article that exceeds the limit then FR will tell you it does, and if you hit "this is an excerpt" then you can usually post up to 300 words. Pasting your preview on a word counter page such as https://wordcounter.net/ can enable you to obtain the maximum.
And when doing so then I try to provide a "Reader's Digest" compilation of the article, of chosen excerpts providing the meat of it. This take time but it saves the reader of having to go to the linked source and read the whole thing, though they are free to do so.
Note also that to paste text as formatted, including working links, then in Waterfox Classic/ PaleMoon /Basilisk and Firefox and perhaps some others, you can select text and right click and choose View Selection Source and copy and paste that, and which will be rendered according to how it originally appeared on the source page. But for a word count, use the text from the preview page.
Finally, most of the FR articles chronicle the spiritual, moral, political financial condition of the country and much of the world, which needs repentance and faith in the risen Lord Jesus who alone can save us on His account, by His sinless shed blood, to the glory of God. Amen.
Note that posting “thread” may be difficult when trying to include “meat” (I tried to proof-read everything but the title)!
Thank you. Thank you very much for posting this. This thread is along the same lines as what I posted many years ago.

I really hate lazy sloppy posters who cannot be bothered to post more than 10 words in their excerpt. Blog pimps and click baiters.
We all know Free Republic has limitations on how much you can post. So it would only be courteous if Freepers would post as much as they can so that we do not have to click over to an article with pop-ups, ads, videos, etc.

Amen to that. The lazy OP syndrome.
And those who cannot be bothered to at least proof read their titles ("An exhortation to those who post thread" - who posts thread?)!

Which is where https://wordcounter.net/ is helpful thank God.
Or, initiate a post and continue the piece in comment 1 in it’s entirety. Just sayin’. π
Perhaps a general rule should be to post only about 5-10% of an article from most sources. FR is unlikely to get in trouble for that.
I see that process being done from time to time. Yet we must be careful not to misuse that as a sneaky way to post the entire article in reply number 1 or reply number 2.
Moderators watch for that and they will delete the thread if they catch it.
This is good advice.
Also, use the PREVIEW button, review how your posting looks and edit accordingly.
Them sneaky mods. Whoever they are.
This is a first world problem, btw...
That certainly applies to me!
Sneaky Mods.
You donβt know who they are, but they know who you are.
That certainly applies to me!

You posted a very good and informative article. I thank you again. In case you didnβt know, as you keep humbly referring to your mistake in the title, you can ask the moderator to correct it. Just ping them.
I’ve always wondered WHO the Mods are....
So does the fbi/doh-j. π±π
Repeat the title twice in the title then repeat it again in the excerpt Repeat the title twice in the title then repeat it again in the excerpt along with the date, time, place, authors, co authors and advertisements. DONT FORGET TO REPOST THE ORIGINAL ARTICLEβS ADVERTISEMENTS! Leave as little room for the actual story.
I consider FR to be a conversation or debate site. All the other “connections” outside are a feature. Nowhere else on the net offer this kind of debate, this fast and easy. If it was not easy I wouldn’t be here.
