Supporters of former President Donald Trump are building his impeachment trial into a battle for the soul of the Republican Party and the first shots in the 2024 White House race.
His legal team outlined its strategy on Wednesday, arguing it is unconstitutional for the Senate to convict a former president and that his speech at a Jan. 6 rally in Washington did not directly cause the deadly assault on the United States Capitol later that day.
But it also left open the possibility of revisiting Trump’s unfounded claims that he won the November election.

The assault started 20 minutes before his speech ended.

The claims of election fraud were never found to be “unfounded.” The claims were brutally suppressed so that they could not be found to be well founded.

No judge ever listened or viewed the evidence for fraud. The SCOTUS refused it. I am surprised they want to bring the fraud as part of the trial. They will have to view all the evidence and the video of GA election night fraud is total proof. Of course they won’t want to see it and say it’s been debunked. CNN will cut away from the trial during those moments. And like someone said before the riot portion started 20 minutes before he quit speaking. It’s like he knew and ran the speech long. He only talked about the fraud and said peacefully cheer on our VP and Congress. They know antifa started this riot and did the damage. And if I was Trump or his team I would demand the name and picture of the shooter be released. Take the time to pick the dems and rino’s apart if you can.

He certainly will. If the Trump Team even began to think about bringing out election fraud, all Senators, Rats and Repukes, would halt the hearing and call for a vote.
Remember, this is not a trial in a court of law. The House impeached without one single sentence from the Defense. And the Senate can also refuse to hear testimony from Trump also.

FAKE NEWS The trial already IS a political brawl, made so by the Democrats. The Fake News Media is simply attempting to force Trump not to engage in it.
I see that even the Washington Examiner is getting in line by injecting the “unfounded claims of voter fraud” into every story they do these days. Where is the proof that fraud was not a factor in the election? There is far more proof that fraud was a factor, but no court wanted to look at the evidence, so they dismissed the cases on procedural grounds.
