Senate Trump Trial Will Fail, But Divisive Dems Will Move Ahead Anyway
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 01/26/2021 3:01:22 PM PST by EyesOfTX

With a deft maneuver today raising a point of order to require a vote of the full Senate to dismiss the sham impeachment case against Donald Trump, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul demonstrated clearly that the divisive Senate Democrats have no chance of obtaining a conviction in their ongoing jihad to keep persecuting the man even after he has left office.

Sen. Paul is at his best when he is focused on being a thorn in the fat butt of Chuck Schumer, and he played that role delightfully today, beginning his parliamentary maneuver with an epic floor speech that should be required viewing for every American:

PauseUnmute Fullscreen VDO.AI CANCEL

A true thing of beauty right there.

Then, the vote came, with the motion to dismiss failing when 5 RINOs joined their Democrat partners in opposition. For the record and so you all can know your enemy, here are the names of the 5 RINOs:

– Susan Collins – Lisa Murkowski – Mitt Romney – Ben Sasse – Patrick Toomey Seriously, I could have predicted that lineup in my damn sleep. It’s as if Mitch McConnell put out the order to round up the usual suspects.

Casablanca Round Up The Usual Suspects GIF - Casablanca ...

Interestingly, McConnell himself actually voted in favor of Paul’s motion, which directly contradicts his actions and statements in support of this sham impeachment over the past few weeks. Wonder who got to him?

In any event, the vote on the motion can most likely be taken as an extremely accurate predictor of how the ultimate vote to convict will turn out once this farce of a process comes to a bitter end. But the divisive Democrats will move forward anyway, because the point here is not to convict: The point is to divide a hopelessly divided nation even further.

That’s what today’s political left is all about, and frankly what it has been all about for a century now. It’s the only thing they know how to do.

That is all.

I expect the communists to prevent our President from mounting a viable defense, since this is a Star Chamber.

However, if they do allow him to defend himself, I hope he goes into excruciating detail of the election fraud, deposition by deposition, numerical analysis in detail, state by state and take weeks if not months doing it.

I find it hard to believe that Schumer would allow the trial to move forward unless he knew it would result in a conviction.

In the last trial, McConnel was in charge so it was to his benefit for it to fail, but not for Schumer, so don't get too giddy about this ....

Guessing that he got to himself. Cocaine Mitch ways likely dangling the “I might convict” carrot out there as a negotiating tactic when he and Schumer were haggling over the organizing rules. That’s all over now (with Mitch largely coming up on the short end).

You think Schumer thinks he can peel off another 12 Republicans?

I think Trump wants a trial to present his defense and expose the election fraud and the lies about incitement.

Joke post?

This sham impeachment is over. Dead on arrival.

I’m actually in favor of it.

It has no substance, so although the media will blockade, the fats the entire things is based on lies, will help.

It also just wastes time.

I’m all in favor of the Senate doing nothing for two years.

Is it guaranteed to be able to provide a full defense, or will there be objections that frame it only within the context of the pseudo-riot at the Capitol?

I don’t trust the Democrats allowing evidence that they will object and sustain as to relevance.

Crying Chuck has to appease the Dem radical base at all costs.

If we were mind-readers and knew what most of the GOP RINO’s were thinking, they’d vote to convict no doubt. But in reality they know it would be the end of their careers.

They have quite a dilemma, cuz Trump can end the GOP real easy next election if hes not convicted anyways. And if he is convicted the outrage will be unreal and they’re done then too. Other option if he does indeed follow thru with Patriot Party then they’re done too. They’ve really F’d themselves in the ass this time.

I would like to see volunteers from the GA, PA, AZ, MI, WI, and NV GOP poll watchers stand on the steps of the Capitol and read out the names of the dead voters that voted in their states during the trial in a tribute to “President” Joe Biden’s loyal constituency. They could ring a bell for each name like they do for the 911 ceremony.

One poll watcher at a time would step to the mic while the others stood or sat behind the podium with masks over their eyes with Biden/Harris printed on the front.

To be fair, back in 1998 the GOP impeached Bill Clinton even though there was zero chance of 2/3 of the Senate voting for conviction. What was the GOP’s motive then? At least part of it was to simply embarrass Clinton.

The same sort of thing is going on with Trump today.

And no, I’m not equating Trump with Clinton. Trump did nothing wrong. Clinton, on the other hand, was guilty of what he was charged with.

The trial will cost the Dems two weeks of advancing their legislative agenda.....Trump’s lasting legacy is still living rent free in their heads.
