Rand Paul: GOP Leadership is About to “Destroy the Republican Party”
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 01/17/2021 4:52:24 AM PST by EyesOfTX

Proof that Rand Paul reads DBDailyUpdate? – Probably not, but the Kentucky Senator does seem to agree with the piece I wrote yesterday that contends that the collapse we are seeing at Fox News right now is a canary in the coal mine for the Republican Party.

From the story at DailyWire:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) soberly predicted Friday that the Republican Party will be destroyed and hemorrhage a third of its members if party leadership votes to convict President Donald Trump during a second impeachment trial.

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Paul described the second impeachment push against Trump as “crazy,” and further evidence of how the president’s opponents are “bitter.”

“I just don’t understand how they can be moving forward with this,” Paul said. “And look, I’m not just saying I’m for everything President Trump has done. I was for seating the electors because I think Congress shouldn’t overturn the state electors. But at the same time, the thing they are doing is an overreaction, and if they think they’re going to have a positive feeling from the public when they’re going to go through a partisan impeachment again, I think that’s absolutely insane and wrongheaded.”

[End]

Well, it certainly is insane and wrongheaded, no question about that. But the DC Swamp UniParty is back in charge now that Trump is about to be gone, and feels the need to flex its muscle. What better way to do that and teach Trump and his voters a lesson in fear than by continuing to persecute the man after he has left the office?

And if it destroys the GOP for a generation or more, so be it. After all, people like Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney and Susan Collins are far more comfortable being in the minority, anyway. Being in the majority means you have real responsibilities and power to get things done. The pressure coming from constituents becomes almost unbearable as they expect you to actually work for a living on their behalf.

But being in the minority means never having to say you’re sorry. You get to sit on the back bench spouting platitude you don’t really mean, toss ineffective fits during hearings and introduce bills your voters love that you hate, but know have no chance of going anywhere, then go back and run for re-election on the claim that there was nothing you could do since you’re in the minority.

For the RINO caucus in the House and Senate, it’s literally the perfect world, a world that allows them to focus most of their time on fundraising and ensuring they get included in the Swamp’s myriad influence peddling scams.

For McConnell and his fellow RINOs, pushing for an impeachment trial presents an opportunity for them to re-establish their UniParty bona fides after four long years of being forced by a POTUS of their own party to actually get stuff done on behalf of the American people. What better way to do that than to go along with the false narrative about the Capitol riot and continue hounding him and his family even after he’s left office?

Rand Paul’s right, but this is a battle he won’t win.

That is all.

I can only guess that the GOP leadership does not believe that they need the GOP anymore that America is secure in being socialist.

Don’t worry Rand, the GOP has already destroyed itself - voting for another Impeachment just shows how far they are up the Dems butts.

And maybe that was the plan all along so all those RINOs can officially come out ans join the uni-party.

I disagree. I think the GOP leadership is about to lead to our taking a fire hose and cleaning out the GOP. The party will still be there, but it is now up to US to see who leads it.
Great Patriots like Jordan Gaetz, Hawley and Tuberville Greene and Cawthorn Nunes and lots of others cannot be thrown out with the Murkowskis and Cheney Romney and Sasse of the party. Please think about the difficulties of trying to win back power by starting with a new party. Take the old GOP, kick out the bad ones and save the good one as a base to restart the party.

We can do that in the House. Not so easy in the Senate. They have six year terms. The cowardice of the republican senators are the real problem.

I’m keeping my GOP registration so that I can vote in the primaries. But in every election, I will be writing in Donald Trump for every position.

It is about the money they were paid. They sold the USA down the river to foreign interests 20 years ago. They have been paid for their treason. They don’t want it exposed.

It is not about being stealth Dems, Follow the Money.

One item I haven’t seen discussed is that a trial in the Senate is unlikely unless they hurry it up. The constitution provides that “When the President is tried the Chief Justice will preside.” McConnel has indicated they won’t meet until after the inauguration. Trump will not be President and as much as Roberts hates Trump even he won’t see a way to justify a trial over which he presides. The spectacle of Harris presiding will be so ludicrous any Republican voting to convict will never be re-elected.

Rand Paul: GOP Leadership is About to “Destroy the Republican Party”

The Republican Party has died. So all they can do is 'kick a dead horse.'

Rand Paul’s statement is sad, but true. When they have become the Whig Party, then perhaps we can reshuffle the deck with true conservatives..

The GOP as a Party is too infected to survive. Trumps new Party will starve them of cash, primary every candidate and drive the last nail in the coffin. There are a few maybe worth keeping, but very few. Besides, the GOP died on January 13, 2021, why bother with them anymore. We’ve all been to that rodeo, haven’t we?

We have to rally around the Hawley’s and Jordans. They are doing their best. Let us not leave them to hang and dry.

Rand Paul is also saying that if they don’t convict Trump, all well be ok with the GOP.

I don’t think so. Do nothing will not keep Republicans on the Plantation. We need to see positive steps by the GOP at all levels of government to keep people from leaving the GOP.

“””I’m keeping my GOP registration so that I can vote in the primaries.”””

If you are in a closed primary state, you can leave the GOP today.

In 2022 you can come back to the GOP to vote the GOP Leftists out in the 2022 primaries.
