I am a pipe smoker/collector (there, I've said it). I have been a member of several pipe groups on Facebook, but I have not participated in Facebook since well before the election, and I have no intention of doing so any time soon.

I wonder if there are any pipe or cigar smokers and collectors on Free Republic with whom we can correspond.

I don’t smoke a pipe but my late husband did, as did several other members of my family. I miss the smell of pipe tobacco in the house. I bought a candle that had tobacco notes and that helped.

I smoked one, too; but alas when I lost my last two teeth, it was over.

I smoked pipes for a few years. They helped me get off cigarettes. However, I felt uneasy about the tobacco resins leaking into my mouth and down my throat and quit smoking them. After years of not smoking, I started smoking the occasional cigar. I only do it outside if the weather is nice. Here in Texas that is fall and winter if it is not too cold. During the hot months, I don't smoke at all.

I never smoke in the house as the tobacco smells turn stale after awhile.

You have.my condolences. Several of my uncles and great uncles were pipe smokers, and I have some pictures of my great grandfather smoking a pipe. I never met him. He was murdered in the Holocaust at the age of 90.

I am an old preppie, and back in the day seniors were allowed to smoke pipes (but not cigarettes or cigars) in the dorms.

So—almost all of us smoked a pipe that year. :-)

These days I smoke cigars.

blend my own, 12 oz. half & half with 4 oz. latakia 1 oz. perique. goes well in any of the 30 or so pipes I have collected over the years.

The trick is getting the URL of the image. Flickr is not for the novice in that respect (requires viewing the image source page and knowing which line of HTML to copy. Not hard, if you understand what .jpg is), but has been a solid image hosting site for me for over a decade.

I’ve not used PostImages, so I can’t speak to its nature for ease of use to post here or elsewhere.
