Hopefully, it doesn’t happen. Hopefully, we are never forced into a bad situation that requires us to rely on a firearm. However, if it ever does come to that, you need to know that you have the tools to put food on the table, keep predators at bay, and defend what is yours.

Thankfully, some of these tools are already available to you. I’ve put together a list of five of the most popular utility guns that are reliable, durable, and available on the market. When the going gets tough, these guns will not let you down, and they won’t break the bank either.

Thank you VERY much. As someone who has had intensive shoulder surgery on the left, and could use it on the right, this matters. :)

The 1776 patriots had 40-45% popular support. 20% sided with Britain. The rest of their countrymen just tried to stay out of it. 40-45%. And what percentage of them were willing to actually fight and die for THEIR cause? What percentage would be willing to fight and die for this cause? 1%? 0.5%? 0.1%? Even less?

Yeah, I keep hearing about this ammo shortage and I’m like “really? I hadn’t even noticed.”

Judge is a waste of time.

I'll take my Sig P320RX all day.

Also, AR-15 over the Mini-14.

We have a couple just for that reason. Very reliable, pretty darned accurate and quiet too.

“... I don’t want to blow out a shoulder with the Remington. ...”

I have 2 Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotguns. The newer one is guaranteed to bruise you shoulder with every shot. The older one has about the same kick as a Ruger 10/22. They look identical, except for the older one being beat to death from use. I the older almost exclusively. I value my shoulder being bruise-free. I’d love to know why one kicks and the other doesn’t.

Wait to see the compliance rate for "registration".

We'll hear a lot of threats as the "deadline" looms and compliance is low.

The Smith & Wesson Governor is the same gun but 6 shots instead of 5.

Those guns are fantastic. With .410 caliber you can have shot shells, ordinary bullets, and PDX rounds.

The Mini 14 was on the list of guns Feinstein wanted to ban in 2013 in her anti gun rights Bill.

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States, for an outright ban picking up every one of them up...Mr. and Mrs. America turn ‘em all in I would have done it. I could not do it. The votes were not there.”
February 5th, 1995. Diane Feinstein on 60 Minutes

The votes are there now.

I really like my 10MM carbine. Versatile for distances from 5-150 yards, accurate and great knockdown power with the ability for 20-30 round magazines. Carry that along with a AR-15 and a good .40 Cal handgun....

The “rack your shotgun to scare away the bad guy” meme is getting really old. Has anyone actually seen this work in real life? In 6 decades of life I’ve never heard of it. If I’m engaging someone, especially within my home, my strategy is stealth and concealment followed by all hell breaking loose.

Other than this and recommending a .410 pistol for home defense his recommendations are good, but not exactly new information. I’d add that in a SHTF situation it’s best to have firearms in calibers that are in common military use.

“Yeah.. I never could understand that idea of burying you gun in the backyard and saying you lost it.. If it gets to that point then it’s already too late.. And you might as well throw your bible in there with it because that’ll be next..”

Well said. It won’t just be your guns you’ll need to get rid of.

No, they really sound like that. It is an unmistakable sound, but not the deterrent it has been lauded.

Based on my rather limited experience, that sound brought instant calm to a chaotic situation...

You need a shotgun a Remington 870 or Mossy 500, a hunting rifle an 1894 lever gun gives your knock down power for most hunts and extra rounds if needed in a gunfight, a .22 rifle, Ruger 10/22 gives you lots of rounds and accessories for small game. Your pistol and battle rifle should be the same caliber as that of your enemy so you have access to their ammunition. 9mm/.40 S&W/.45 ACP(lots of pistols in these calibers) and in a rifle, .223/5.56 for the AR platform or 7.62X39 for AK platform. The judge is a big gun but getting .45 Long Colt is expensive IF you can find it and .410 buckshot as well.

There were lots of registration laws passed in the northeast after Sandyhook and the registration rate was abysmal. It will be for a national registration as well.
