Nearly 120 years since it was first developed, 9mm has become the world’s most popular pistol cartridges. It is known by many names including 9x19mm, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Luger, and 9mm NATO – but regardless of how you spell it, 9mm ammo is used by militaries around the world in handguns and submachine guns. More than sixty percent of the world’s law enforcement also utilizes the round.
A Short History
Developed by Georg Luger as a military service cartridge for use with the DWM Luger semi-automatic pistol, the round was designed to be lethal at 50 meters. It was also meant to be an improvement of Luger’s previous 7.65x21mm Parabellum round. Unlike most other pistol cartridges the 9mm round has a slightly tapered casing, which was a design feature to improve the reliability and accuracy of feeding the ammunition from the magazine into the firearm.

I got a “deal” at 60 cents per round. Still more than twice the normal price.
I have some 9mm makarov I can’t use.
9mm and other ammo is free when you pick it off the ground after CWII begins.
I’m good on 9mm but have been looking for some 38 S +P which is also damn scarce.
Went to a small local shop stuck my head in and asked.. he had a couple mixed blocks of 50. He said, these are the ones I pull out of peoples guns who trade them in or need work. I bought em for $30.00.
Leaving ammo in a gun when you trade it in or get it worked on.. WTF? His thoughts as well !
Some dude on local FB page was selling a box of 50 range/target for $60.
Hoping it happens, betting it won't.
Plenty of folks have it starting at .53cents/rd.

If you need it you better get it looking at the new bosses.
I have some, both round ball and JHP. Will only trade for a Jordanian Llama in excellent condition with the two magazines that came with it, the box and the papers. PM me.
Running. 90 to 1.00 round at moment.
I wish I could afford it. I might have to give up shooting for sometime.
I guess I better quit looking at an ammo website while sitting at Reagan airport for flight back home....
Just be aware of what you are purchasing when you are looking for the lowest price. Chances are that the “cheap” stuff is remanufactured/reloaded or some unknown or off-brand. The well-known manufacturers are demanding much higher per-round prices.
Yup. Need to read the particulars before buying.
Fear not China Joe says ammo is being made and the public can have all the want just as soon as the eraser tip are finished.
Nothing wrong with handloads as long as they were reloaded correctly. I’ve had more misfires with factory ammo than I ever had with my handloads.
I like my 9 mm gun. It is light enough and quite accurate.
At the gun range I was shooting inside 6” circle at 30 feet distance target. But I did not realize ammo is hard to get now. I better quit going to the gun range and use up my remaining ammo.
“9mm has become the world’s most popular pistol cartridges”
I’ve read that the 9 MM only became popular in the USA after WW II as the US was flooded with European army surplus firearms and war souvenirs.
You could get German ammo clear up through 1968 as I bought some with the nazi stamp on the head. It Corroded my pistol, bad!
What fun! Until the Democrats ruined it in 1968!
