80s yuppie rock at its finest, with the yup-rock king Robert Palmer singing lead. Some great guitar work by Andy Taylor on this album, btw.

Andy has a song called “I Might Lie” that ROCKS.
I thought it was really gonna climb the charts at the time but I don’t think it did.
Hell no one else I know even knows the song.
Pure rock and great guitar.

Early Palmer was good too. His Version of Gimme An Inch is smooth. First heard of him when a friend turned me on to Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley as an import. Died way too young.

Robert Palmer: The Best-Dressed Man in Rock. He was the James Bond of the MTV Generation. RIP.

Palmer was good but, he didn’t come close to defining the 80’s. Hair Bands defined the 80’s.

That’s why they banned Fluro-Carbons. All the damn hairspray. :)

Not for me. Metal pre-1982 did. The “hair bands” defined the decline following that peak.

Perhaps. But, the stated topic is the 80’s.

Didn’t Willie Nelson invent the
hair band?

This the remake of Bang a Gong I thought their version was lame, compared to the original.

Was a fan of his “Thunder” album all those years ago, which (of course) includes “I Might Lie.” Great track.

Certainly is. Different meanings for different people, for sure.
Those that really hated the hair bands gravitated more towards the thrash metal scene, particularly after 1983.
