And it didn’t just set the record for the longest kill with a rifle; the C15 was used on three separate occasions to set that record over a 15-year time span.

And I’m pretty sure he never played 2nd base for the Yankees in 1925.

But only 1 in thousands have the ability and training to really use it’s potential. For the rest of us that trusty ole bolt action 308 is all the rife we can handle. (Not that I’m knocking it)

Can't get much more VOOM POW than this,......at extremely long range.

One gets whacked, loudly, then many seconds later, the accomplices may hear a long distant POW!

Some of those afghans on video do flips off their perch upon contact with 750 grains of death.

Nor should you. I can regularly hit an IPSC steel target with an out of the box .308 Savage rifle/Nikon scope combo at 600 yards. I do use hand loaded match grade ammunition. I’m confident enough in my gear and my skill to believe I could score hits at 800 if I had to.

I shoot with people who have certified hits at one mile using .50 BMG bolt guns. I met a woman who has documented hits at 1,000 yards with a 6.5 Creedmore bolt gun.

The skill of the workman often matters much more than the price of the tool.

What stories like this always overlook when referring to Hathcock's record is that his was a cold bore shot (CBS). In all the other cases the sniper (Furlong, Harrison, etc) fired a number of "ranging" shots before they found their marks. But Hathcock only fired the one shot.

Details are scarce but the 2+ mile shot taken in Iraq in 2017 (also shot from a McBro's Tac-50) might have been a CBS but the peripheral details of that give me to believe that that shot was a deliberately orchestrated technology demonstration for DARPA's EXACTO self-steering bullet.

It also bears mention that the McMillan Brothers buy the one component of the TAC-50 that is most responsible for its precision -- the barrel -- from Lilja. And Lilja will be happy to make a barrel for whatever rifle you own.
