The credibility of public health officials was shot earlier this year after members of the medical community approved of the months-long protests – i.e. superspreader events – following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Hypocritically, the same "experts" chastised other gatherings and large events that didn't call for defunding police departments or descend into widespread violence and mayhem.
We now know, thanks to scientists who analyzed the genetic code of the coronavirus, that a superspreader event back in February is responsible for around 300,000 cases of the Wuhan virus. The event wasn't a reopening protest or a Trump rally, but a medical conference attended by top health care professionals.

As much as I’d like to jump up and down and say Nyaa Nyaa, I won’t.
I’ve been to dozens of events, large and small. None have become “superspreaders” The reality is that it’s a cool name for a non existent phenomenon.

My b-i-l and his flaming liberal wife both have COVID, which she was literally terrified of.
He said it feels like a mild cold and she apparently does not even have symptoms yet in spite of testing positive.
Now I can tell them we’re good for seeing them for the holidays because they will no longer be contagious by them and they will be immune.
And I will enjoy every minute of pointing this out to her.

My daughter, SIL, and their 2 kids were all diagnosed positive on Wednesday. The kids’ symptoms are mild but their parents are sicker with symptoms like a bad cold except with loss of smell/taste. They wear masks everywhere they go, although they roll their eyes about it.
It is a real thing but as usual the fake news has corrupted the term. We had SSE’s, super spreader events with SARS 1 and the two viruses are so very similar that it makes sense that SARS 2 would work the same way. The super spreader is an individual. When contact tracing back to a gathering at which a large number were infected they sometimes find everyone got it from one person. That person is a super spreader and that gathering is the event. I cannot remember the theory on why some individuals are this way.
The Skagit County Washington choir practice was a SSE. One lady in the choir gave it to 53 of the 61 people who came to practice.

Most contagious part of this are days before symptoms appear.
I got it from my MIL the day before she became symptomatic. She passed 2 weeks later.

“They” want the virus and they need the infection and death numbers as high as possible so the fear is as high as possible and anger at President Donald J. Trump is as high as possible.
That way “they” could overwhelm his popularity by crashing the record economy (are you better off now than 4 years ago?) and swamping the vote with mail in voting and massive election fraud.

For what it’s worth Covid doesn’t appear to be very contagious. Nobody else in family got it. Just me in a household of 5. I received a huge viral load from my MIL the day before she became symptomatic when we shared a bowl of food. My wife and I saw her the 1st day of her being symptomatic and we talked to her for 30-40 minutes, but did not touch her. No mask/ no transmission. While I was sick I mainly stayed in bedroom again without mask and used my own bathroom.

Yes I saw that. It was the same reason the WHO was kicked out of Tanzania after the Tanzanian authorities became suspicious and PCR tested a Monkey, Goat, Paw-Paw fruit and a rock. They all were positive. So it was GTFO time.
Its a sad commentary when Tanzania exhibits more common sense than the United States.
