As the nation prepares for Election Day and the possibility of civil unrest in the following days, the Illinois National Guard is in a state of readiness and prepared to respond to communities throughout the state, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said.

No guns mounted, there is a CROW system in place of the turret. Its an optical/aiming system that *can* have a weapon mounted but these do not currently.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Illinois National Guard said the agency wont discuss the specifics of troop movements or future plans out of concern for the safety of the troops involved.
According to a tweet issued Monday afternoon from Chicagos Office of Emergency Management and Communications, the city of Chicago has not made calls to deploy the National Guard in the city.
NBC Philadelphia journalist Brandon Hudson tweeted, National Guard on location at the Park West Town Center shopping plaza. Looters have targeted this place in May/June and last week.

The New York Times reported on Monday, Gov. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts ordered 1,000 members of the National Guard to activate on standby in case of unrest following Tuesdays election.
On Monday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in the Portland area in anticipation of possible political violence. Oregon Public Broadcasting also reported Brown is also readying National Guard troops for potential deployment.
Reports last week indicated up to 1,000 Texas National Guard troops would be deployed to five different Texas cities, but Maj. Gen. Tracy Norris, the adjutant general of the Texas Army National Guard, said there are no plans to send guard troops to polling locations.
The Texas National Guard continues to support [The Texas Department of Public Safety] guarding historical landmarks such as the Alamo and the State Capitol, Norris said last week. To be clear, there has been no request nor plan to provide any type of support at any polling location in Texas.
The New York Times reported hundreds of National Guard troops in various states have also deployed for non-law enforcement roles, including to assist poll workers. In New Jersey and Wisconsin, guard troops have been called in to assist with the elections and are at the polls wearing civilian clothes, so as not to alarm voters by the site of camouflage uniformed soldiers at polling stations.
As of last week, National Guard troops have reportedly been activated in 10 different states ahead of the Nov. 3 election and 14 more states are expected to activate their guard units this week, according to the New York Times.
I’m sure they have intel that anarchists are going to be on the rampage. Anything to throw chaos and doubt into the election.
“CROW system in place of the turret. Its an optical/aiming system that *can* have a weapon mounted but these do not currently.”
Wo what exactly is it?
They need to start using vehicle-mounted LRADs and ADSs on the rioters.
Had to google it as the article didn’t explain...
CROWS
The Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station is a series of remote weapon stations used by the US military on its armored vehicles and ships. It allows weapon operators to engage targets without leaving the protection of their vehicle.
If we had an FBI , willing to do its job, the ring leaders of ANIFA and BLM would have been locked away long ago.
You can mount a weapon quickly!
Could someone explain command of the National Guard? I’m awfully concerned about Milley and Esper being not supportive of Trump when the chips are down. How soon can Trump get rid of Milley and how much latitude does he have on Milley’s replacement?
I passed a caravan of tanks...
TANKS...
on flatbed trucks-at least 10 of them..on my way to work this morning on I-81 in southern VA. They were heading north.
Those are CROWS that already are attached to the vehicles without their weapons installed. Essentially mounts without the weapon, they are not easily taken off and most times just left on.
I agree, and I don’t know why that hasn’t been done already.
Tanks seem like a poor choice to me.
Remember Tiananmen Square — IF your tank is willing to run over the guy standing in front of it, THEN the tank is intimidating and good for crowd control.
But if you aren’t willing to flatten a crowd of people, then then crowd of people will laugh at you.
The government has said for years that they have crowd control devices involving sound, infrared heat, smell, etc. If they don’t use that stuff this time, then I say that stuff doesn’t really exist.
OK. CROW is basically Fire by Wire, from inside the armor. Like a video game.
OK, so a CROW mount can be weaponless.
Probably using the camera(s) for up-close intel gathering.
Then add the 50 cal when needed.
Tear gas, Tasers, fire hoses, dogs, batons, long cable ties...all non-mil ways to end anarchists’ riots.
But only if our police have the gonads to use them and end it.
So this list is mostly democrat governors putting Guard units om alert. Will they actual do something, or just tell the Guard to stand next to the local PD and do nothing?
On a cold day like this water cannons/fire hoses are particularly effective.
The beauty of CROWS is that a crew member can employ safely any mounted sensor or weapon system mounted on the turret, and controls them via a system that is much like a Nintendo.
The optics are amazing in terms of what you can see/identify/target at long ranges. All from the comfort of your seat.
