On the rare occasions I got to watch TV growing up, I always begged for a few extra minutes after Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood ended. The show that followed as always PBS's Film du Jour and the film of the day was always Life with Father starring William Powell.
I loved it when William Powell exploded, "Why did God make so many dumb fools and Democrats?!". That was my first clue that politics is damned funny!

Everybody knew Don Rickles was not being deliberately mean. It was his schtick. Celebrities were more upset when he did not make fun of them.
Affirmative but that is the accepted Don Rickles, a known comedian & actor. Think about a newby Don Rickles want-to-be. Would he have a career or would he be told that there is no place in today's entertainment for 'insult comics'?

Exactly! I hear comedians can’t perform on college campuses anymore because everyone is so sensitive and PC. The only people you can still insult are banjo players! LOL I’m German and Polish. Take your best shot. Even my husband calls me a “meathead.” LOL

LOL. I love accordion! Actually, my family had one passed down from generation to generation. A bit wheezy but it still made pretty music.
