AOC, Pelosi: Impeachment Should Be Considered to Stop Supreme Court Pick

Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have hinted impeachment would be considered as a weapon to halt President Trump from filling a Supreme Court vacancy.

The vacancy arose following the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday.

Trump has vowed to nominate an individual to fill her seat while Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced the nominee “will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.”

House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) and AOC (D-NY) demonstrated that they are in lockstep in trying to stop the Presidential’s Constitutional duty to select a replacement.

They’ve even gone so far as to wield impeachment – potentially – as a tool to accomplish their politically motivated goals.

Impeachment to stop the POTUS from adhering to the Constitution of the US. Now I’ve heard everything.

Don’t laugh. They will try. And they will recruit leftist judges to issue edicts to stop the constitutional process from going forward.

I’m not sure how that works. The President can nominate a judge while under impeachment. The Senate can finish one job. and do the other.

This attempt at impeachment will be even more groundless than the first.

And just as politically motivated.

They could not POSSIBLY organize an impeachment effort with sufficient speed and plausibility to fit it in until well after the inauguration of Trump for a second term.

A hearing before the Senate Judiciary committee, and vote in the Senate, would all happen so much faster than any action by the House of Representatives.

Which may not even look the same after Election day, 2020.

Wrong use of impeachment therefore it’s a horrendous abuse of power.

I wonder if the New York 14th congressional district’s drinking water supplies have been tested for lead contamination recently?

Why don’t they just urinate in the wind? That would be just as effective as “impeachment” in stopping the elected President of the United States from fullfulling his Constitution duty.

The vacancy arose following the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday.

What this means is they turned off the machinery on Friday.

“And they will recruit leftist judges to issue edicts to stop the constitutional process from going forward.”

Truthfully if they read the Constitution, there is a capacity to head them off even more than they think.

Constitution /article II, Section 2:

“He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.”

What this basically says is: the senate can invest the appointment of a supreme court justice totally in the hands of the president as there are no laws that cover replacement. So a simple majority, no questions asked, is all that is required. And it doesn’t have to be a vote on the person. Mr. McConnell moves right on by the discussion, require a vote for having the president make the choice, and when the conservative majority passes the vote with even one more vote than the liberals, it’s over. The libs have no say in it beyond the vote by amendment. No discussion of the candidate, nothing more. It’s in the Constitution and is quite clear.

Get ready for trying the person in the papers.

Sure they could. Since it has no merit they don't need hearings or evidence, just a vote.

A simple solution would be to bring Amy Comey Barrett vote to the floor today. No vicious attacks or other garbage. Just an up-and-down vote today. Done
