Applications for first-time gun owners in New Jersey have surged fourfold during the national race riots of summer 2020, with residents of the notoriously anti-gun state looking to arm themselves in response to national events. New Jersey arguably has the most restrictive and draconian state gun control laws in the country. The state requires permits for gun ownership that are submitted to towns and cities, with the state police having the authority to deny gun ownership on critics argue are simply arbitrary grounds.
The Burlington Country Times is reporting that some New Jersey municipalities have reported a whopping 1,000% increase in applications for gun permits....

It depends on where you live. I have friends who recently got their pistol purchase permits within three weeks. I know that I will get a beat down from freepers who can just walk into a store and purchase a pistol saying that everyone should be able to do that. I agree with that but we like where we live and don’t want to move.

I applied 6 weeks ago. I called my police dept. last week, they told me they’re backlogged and I’ll just have to wait.
This just means that more of them will move to North Carolina and continue to ruin it.

People here probably have some vague memories of the Newark riots.
When it becomes normal for folks to say or believe in the words “allow” or “permit” when it comes to the government’s “infringing” on the 2nd amendment .. it’s a damn shame!
The 2nd’s purpose is there, not only to protect the rest of the amendments, it is also there to protect us from a tyrannical government!
So .. when the tyrant “allows” what manner of self protection you may be “permitted” then you’ve already lost!
You need a ID card merely to HANDLE a firearm taken from a gun case.
I believe you also need a permit for a slingshot purchase.

Hard to fathom.
Our children went to 4H rifle training for years taught by retired military snipers. 22LR. They learned SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY followed by safe handling, marksmanship, proper breathing, use of “shooting clothes” made to help with holding prone positions for extended period while placing shots on target.
Very great investment of time, money, and expert training.
Texas is different.
I was born in 1940. That is many years before my state became what it is. It has not always been this way. We could have moved but we live in a beautiful area where most people are armed and can and will defend themselves. We would rather stay here and protect what we have. If people had stayed here we would not be up the shiite creek with no paddle. But I also do not blame them for seeking greener pastures.
It doesn’t really matter how much the PERMIT APPLICATIONS multiply.
They simply won’t approve them.
