Last night it became official. The Miami Hurricane Center has declared that Isaias is now the worst named hurricane of the 2020 tropical storm season.

Scrabble was popular in Negro neighborhoods back then and they got used to dumping a bunch of letters out of the Scrabble bag then rearranging them until they got something that sounded exotic. I just call most of them Scrabble.

My father-in-law pointed out to me many years ago a way to outpredict the meerolgists. Back then the weatherman’s maps on TV all had the air pressure shown at many points on the map. FIL told me when a storm was coming up the gulf, to look behind the weatherman who was speculating many farflung landfall points, to find the lowest pressure number on the coast and that is where the storm would go. It has worked out pretty well these last 40 years, though, Ihave to find specialized weather sites on the puter now as pressure is usually not shown on the TV maps. Too many viewers have caught on to that trick and it undermines the meerolgist’s attempts to sound like he knows something.

Are you saying the ninth of Av is when this hurricane named Isaiah is making its track up the east coast of the USA? If so, this hurricane could be prophetic.
... it was direct observation: the name meaning, the date placement of the storm, the timing of the special Shabbat involving the same prophet.
Also, does the month of Elul figure into this period of time beginning with the ninth of Av?

I remember about 10 years ago there were complaints about no Hispanic names. They of course changed. But I thought it weird minorities would want destructive names after themselves. This year the “O” is Omar. Ugh.
NYC grade school in the '50s. We had colored kids named Abraham Lincoln Jones or George Washington Smith. We tittered at that, not realizing that their folks, at least, named them after patriots.
At that time, my dad told a joke that two coloreds, named Ferdinand and Liza, called their kid "Fertilizer". It was so off the wall, everyone laughed. Nowadays . . .
