With so many players in contention for this week’s Pernicious Prevarication Award, Senator Diane Feinstein still ran away from the competition with this contribution:
"We hold China as a potential trading partner, as a country that has pulled tens of millions of people out of poverty in a short period of time, and as a country growing into a respectable nation amongst other nations. I deeply believe that," Feinstein said during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting. – Washington Free Beacon
Well sure, as long as you accept the premise that a “respectable nation” behaves thusly:
- Performs organ harvesting on live prisoners
- Censors what data their citizens can see on the Internet (whoops! we might be guilty on that count too)
- Denies their citizens freedom of speech (again, whoops!)
- Denies their citizens freedom of religion (this is getting embarrassing)
- Conducts forced sterilizations/abortions
- Sends enemies of the State to re-education camps
- Reneges on significant International agreements such as the 1984 Sino-British Declaratio which guaranteed autonomy for the former British colony of Hong Kong through 2047.
The Uyghurs living in captivity under the control of the Chinese Communist Party, as well as the residents of Hong Kong begging to keep their democracy might beg to differ with Ms. Senator Feinstein’s characterization of the country being a “respectable nation.” If they were allowed to voice their opinions at all, which of course they aren’t.
Although I can see why Senator Feinstein might think China a damn fine country: after all it did make her and her husband “respectfully” wealthy – which automatically qualifies her for our annual Marie Antoinette Award as well.
My disdain for these elites grows more trenchant with each passing day. I wonder if this is how the French Revolution started?

Throughout the week-long trip, Hunter Biden seemed to duck in and out, sometimes joining his father at events and red-carpet arrival ceremonies, and at other times following his own itinerary, presumably with his daughter Finnegan. As is customary, the White House did not provide details about what the vice president’s relatives were doing when they were not part of his public events.
What else Hunter Biden may have done during the two-day stop in China is unclear. There are no indications he met with Chinese government officials. Mesires, the spokesman, said that he did not conduct any business during the trip — including when he met with Li, the Chinese banker and his nascent business partner.
Several former White House officials who traveled with Biden on the trip told NBC News that they didn’t know at the time that Hunter Biden had any business interests in China and were unaware of his private schedule while in Beijing. Reporters along for the trip also indicated no one was aware of Hunter's mega business deal in China.

Twelve days after Hunter stepped off Air Force Two in Beijing with his VP dad and daughter, Hunter's nascent company signed a historic deal with the Bank of China, the state-owned financial behemoth often used as a tool of the Chinese government.
The Bank of China had created a first-of-its-kind investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). According to BHR, one of its founding partners was none other than Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC.
It was an unprecedented arrangement: (A) the government of one of America’s fiercest competitors, the Chinese Communist government. going into business with the son of one of America’s most powerful decision-makers, then VP-Biden....Pres Obama's point man in China.
Chris Heinz (John Kerry’s stepson) claims neither he nor Rosemont Seneca Partners, the firm he had part ownership of, had any role in the deal with Bohai Harvest. Nonetheless, Biden, Archer and the Rosemont name became increasingly involved with China.
Archer became the vice chairman of Bohai Harvest, helping oversee some of the fund’s investments.
Troublingly, some of those investments had major implications for US national security........including the safety and security of Americans.

All but four of the 30,490 emails from Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized email server were forwarded to a private Google email address featuring the name of a Chinese company, according to documents released on Aug. 15.
Virtually every email which was sent to and received on the Clinton server was forwarded to “carterheavyindustries@gmail.com,” the documents (pdf) show. Frank Rucker, the intelligence community inspector general (ICIG) investigator who spotted the anomaly, searched Google for “Carter Heavy Industries” and came up with results for Shandong Carter Heavy Industry Co., Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of excavators and heavy machinery, according to the documents. He took charge of Hillary’s emails, but Paul Cambetta of Platte River Networks says he created the carterheavyindustries email address as a dummy used to transfer from Hillary’s second server to the one they were setting up.
He claims no knowledge of the Chinese company with a similar name and offers no explanation of why he used it. The Obama FBI and DoJ IG found that to be enough, since there wasn’t a spread of evidence left after Hillary destroyed the equipment.

In a shocking speech to the National Governors Association, Secretary Mike Pompeo revealed that he is in possession of a list of American governors who have been listed as “friendly” by Chinese Communist infiltrators.
Pompeo said he had received an earlier invitation from a former governor to attend a networking event that promised great “deal-making” opportunities with the Chinese government.
This networking event was run by “The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship in Foreign Countries,” said Pompeo.
But what the US participants might not have known is that “the group is the public face of the Chinese Communist party’s official foreign influence agency, the United Front Work Department.” Pompeo knew of this connection from his former position at the CIA.
He questioned the governors on how many of them knew that this group was a Communist-front group.
“What if you made a “new friend” at the China networking event?” he asked. “What if your ‘new friend’ offered to invest big money in your state, perhaps in your pension fund, or make a Chinese invest in an industry sensitive to our national security?”
And then Pompeo dropped a huge bomb on the crowd.
“These aren’t hypotheticals. Last year a Chinese government-backed think tank in Beijing produced a report that assessed all fifty of America’s governors on their attitudes toward China. They labeled each pol friendly, hardline, or ambiguous.”
Pompeo continued, “I’ll let you decide where you think you belong, someone in China already has. Many of you, indeed, in that report, are referenced by name.”
