Possibly another thing the Founding Fathers could have been a little clearer on: Exactly what constitutes a "natural born citizen" to determine eligibility to be POTUS. The last time this was sort of a big deal was when Arnold might have run for prez. (He's probably too content to smoke stogies in his hot tub to bother these days.) But exactly who qualifies as a citizen has huge ramifications for out country.
Know as much about the matter as we do after reading Natural Born Citizens: Understanding Who Can Be POTUS in a Nation Beset By Divided Loyalties.
Naturally.
Good article.
Catlin Jenner is Natural Born
Until or unless the Supreme Court ever rules on this, we will always have endless debates on this.
Some say Obama was ineligible because he wasn’t born in America.
Others say he was ineligible because even if he was born in Hawaii, because his father being a British subject made him ineligible, even though his mother was an American citizen.
But nobody stopped him from running and becoming president, so in fact he was president, even though many say he was ineligible.
Many others have said on this site that people such as Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Kamala Harris are ineligible for various reasons.
Some say that you must be born of two American citizen parents and also be born on America soil to be a natural born citizen.
Others say that simply being born in America, makes you a natural born citizen, regardless of the status of your parents citizenship or nationality.
As a practical matter, I seriously doubt that anyone will challenge the eligibility of anyone running for president on the basis of not being a natural born citizen.
I’m sure someone will present evidence as to why Obama or others are legally ineligible to be president.
All I’m saying is that realistically, only a Supreme Court decision would settle it, and realistically, nobody will challenge the right of someone born in American to foreign born parents to run for president.
The last time was Arnold? Really?
Hmmm. I can think of another, perhaps more recent time.
Actually that will never happen because the Supremes will always claim that no individual or group has standing to contest Presidential eligibility. Eligibility is clearly defined in the Constitution, therefore any candidate will be presumed to be honorable enough not to run if not eligible. That is why Odogma's eligibility was a moot point after he got the nomination.
Congress should have addressed this eligibility issue in the 25th Amendment, as it was the perfect chance. Only Congress can clarify it and they will not because both parties will foresee a time when they will abuse the will of The Founders.
This battle was list long ago. The founders were clear. The populace was not
The only time it will ever matter is if a Conservative candidate for president has citizenship issues.

As the Supreme Court stated, there has been no doubt with respect to citizens born on American soil when both parents were citizens. (This is what I was taught in School-decades ago) As to the other combinations, there have been doubts/disagreement-noted the court. However, in this case, the court stated it was not necessary to decide that issue-just the voting rights issue.
Given some of the recent Supreme Court cases, a decision from the Court could be unsatisfactory similar to some of their recent decisions which basically was legislation from the bench. Given the cowardice to address the issue in court during the Obama years- I would guess that the court will likely continue to dodge the issue/
As noted in the article, this was not defined by the Constitution. So another way to achieve clarity would be for Congress to debate it and propose a constitutional amendment for ratification by the required majority of states.
Just my opinion, but I think all divided loyalties-ie dual citizenship should be addressed-not just for the President, but also the Congress—likely never to happen though.
Child born, on US soil, to US Citizen parents.
The only way to block other Countries from laying claim to the baby
No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.
No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Clear and unambiguous. No definition of the word is needed.
Congressmen and Senators have to be Citizens for x number of years. Natural born Citizens are Citizens since they were born, and Statues not required.
Founders grandfathered everyone cause you could not restrict the office to baby’s and children for the first 35 years of the republic
“Caitlin Jenner is Natural Born”
... And Unnaturally Reborn as a hideous parody of womanhood.
The issue that I totally disagree with is a child born overseas due to their parent being on military orders. To say that child is not a natural born citizen is ridiculous.
NBC. Poorly written and badly defined. Had to be redefined again in 1790. That was still not clear and so DOZENS of court cases and SCOTUS decisions have still not explained who is and who isn’t a NBC.
Here’s a clue: Are you a US citizen? Yes? Then you can be the President.
Prove me wrong.
Doesnt matter. Who in our Government is going to refuse to let immigrants be second in line to the Presidency? Who has the power, outside of Trump? Who in our Government would have Trumps back if he challenged a Harris VP slot?
The Republican Party is mostly a bunch of go along to get along weenies.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And....... at the time of your birth, your parents had to be U.S. citizens. This would guarantee that your allegiance would naturally be to the the U.S. only and not to any foreign allegiance through your parents.
If only. Daddy Obammie was a Kenyan. Stanley Ann was an Indonesian most of her life.
Barry grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii. And obviously NEVER had much allegiance to the USA.
My stupid smart phone corrected me
Should have read:
Caitlyn Jenner is not Natural Born
