Religious Conservatism’s Potemkin Power

Longtime readers will remember the story I’ve told here several times. It was the fall of 2015, several months after the Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex marriage. I met privately with some key GOP House and Senate staffers, and asked them what the Republicans were planning legislatively to protect religious liberty in the post-Obergefell environment. The answer: nothing. No plans at all. Not on their agenda.

Money quote from a responder to the article:

The GOP has conserved nothing. Taxes breaks for the 1% is all they care about.

Corporations are there to make a profit. Politicians are there to get elected. The Left has grown so good at painting conservatives as irrational zealots that adopting anything that remotely smacks of social conservatism is painting a target on your chest. The route back to conservatism is the same route the Left took to controlling our culture. It starts with controlling the school system. I knew a conservative who taught fifth grade. The mechanism set up to educate and certify teachers is designed to weed out conservatives. He recognized that and said the required words to get his cert. But, then every aspect of what he said was also closely controlled in the classroom.

I don’t see a path to retaking education. But doing so is the key to correcting the nation’s current path.

Volunteer schools started nationwide under the auspices of home schooling. Take in the children of a couple of homeschooling families that have working parents. They buy groceries pay utilities etc

I didn’t like W. But I voted for him.
I didn’t like McCain. But I voted for him.
I didn’t like Romney. But I voted for him.

I do like Trump. I enthusiastically voted for him, and I will do it again.

This year ought to highlight for people that we are in a true battle of Good vs Evil. The GOP isn’t perfect, but we can’t let the Democrats gain control of the government. Social and Religious Conservatives need to vote against the Democrats. This is the year that counts.

I wasn’t one for the GOP do far more harm than good and would be better of collapsing and replaced by an actual dynamic conservative organization but I’m questioning this belief more as time goes on.

This. I expect a number of Catholic Dems might reconsider their positions.

The GOP has indeed not served religious Believers well, but the Marxist Dems are simply not acceptable, so I will be voting Trump this fall.

Education is the key to creating educated crooks. Worshiping God is the key to restoring this country.
