Murderous millennial preachers and prophets take over the German city of Munster after Martin Luther unleashes a Pandoras Box of religious anarchy with the Protestant Reformation.

“Hardcore History” is a fantastic history podcast, by the way. Dan’s podcasts are in-depth and he has an excellent presentation style.
Sounds interesting, but it says this show is Duration:04:15:36 minutes and I have to pay $2.
Is that 4 days, 15 hours, 36 seconds? Ive seen some long-winded videos on YouTube...
No. I it is hours:minutes:seconds.
Sorry, thats what I meant.
Is he good enough to listen to for four hours? You say he has a good presentation style.
He more recent podcasts are free although he asks for a $1 an episode donation. He is doing a series on the war in the Pacific starting with the Japanese attack on China. Listen to one of those and see if you like his style.
Interesting. Theres also the Paris Commune...this seems to happen every so often, when law and order has broken down for some other reason.
In this case, it was the Protestant Reformation ; in the case of the Paris Commune, it was the Franco Prussian War. In our case, it was the three month (five month, in some places) shut down and the assumption of extra-legal dictatorial powers by state governors.
Heck, ya!! It's the only podcast I have ever listened to. I don't need any others.
I spent over a month on my 1-1/2 three times a week listening to his "Blueprint for Armageddon" podcasts this Spring. About 20 hours total. I think it's his best. Also loved the Fall of the Roman Republic. We did that one hers ago on our road rips to or out of state property. Got my youngest hooked on history.
I was just starting his podcasts on Genghis Khan when went to working from home. Hope to get back in the classroom soon so I can pick that one up again.
It was 1534 not 1634
We should arrest these Antifa asses and hang them from a Church belltower in iron cages and let them starve, die and rot to birdfood like they did in Muenster. Very impressive when I visited there.
All his stuff is brilliant. Cfan is referring to Supernova in the East. The great length of his work is like savoring a ten course banquet. All of his stuff is good. Hard to pick out but Id say my favorites are Death Throes of the Republic, which is about Rome, and King of Kings, which is about the ancient Persian empire. Most of his stuff is free
Check out John of Leyden (Anabaptists sect) who formed a communist totalitarian take over of Munster in the 1500s.
Brutal short rule and a very brutal ending to their rule. At least until recently you could still see the suspended cages (way up on the church) where the leaders remains had been displayed.
There is even a 19h century grand opera (G. Meyerbeer, Le prophète (The Prophet)) about the “utopia” (minus the brutal executions and the cages).
He is good enough to listen to for hours. He is a bit morbid, but his delivery is empathetic and engaging. He does focus on the big personalities of history but also provide some good insight into the lives of ordinary people who were their contemporaries. I suggest you listen to some of the free content before you buy. For a single episode topic I’d suggest his “The Celtic Holocaust”. It is free.
A bit of a warning though. Carlin is mostly a moderate libertarian and is sympathetic to upheavals that deliver liberty to individuals at the expense of centralized power. Unfortunately, he cannot see that element in our President, even though he grudgingly admits the President is just the kind of person he would prescribe to re-launch the enlightenment movement. My guess is that he sees too much Caesar or Napoleon in Mr. Trump. Thus he comes off as a Never Trumper.

Thanks to all three of you for your hearty recommendations. I’ll give him a try.
One podcast I really like is “In Our Time” by Melvin Laird. It’s a BBC production. He covers an amazing array of topics, all historical. Many are historical biographies, but he covers things like the evolution of horses and gin. All have a historical aspect. He brings on wonderful guests and he leads the discussion with them.
Highly recommended.
