When the left determined people were easily convinced to cripple the economy and stay at home. Even conservatives went along with the lockdown orders.

The curve went flat before they were sure Trump could be defeated.

What else?

Moving the goalposts.

Standard procedure for Democrats.

Prolong the curve, flatten the economy. Let’s get the language correct.

When democrats figured they could prolong the agony by so doing.

From the start, Epidemiology has its own assumptions
Flattening the curve assumes that two functions are understood.
1) Hospital capacity is limited. Flattening the curve will avoid a peak need of hospital beds because the use of hospital beds will be spread out over time. Do you remember the debate over the number of hospital beds needed? If you listened closely it all depended on whether the peak would be flattened or not. But each person with an agenda (especially the media) cherry picked just part of that conversation.

2) Flattening the curve will stretch out who gets the virus for a long time in the future. It takes time to study and learn about the virus. It takes time to develop treatment medicines and vaccines. By stretching out who gets the virus there will be some people still unexposed for future testing. If 100% were to catch the virus and either recover or die suddenly and nobody was left unexposed, then there would be nobody to test the medicines.

“Flattening The Curve”... As meaningless as it is it’s an awesome catch phrase. I wonder... Who did originally came up with this nonsense?

And even more nonsense... A ‘vaccine’ for a flu epidemic.

Vaccines have been around since Napoleon and flu epidemics have been around longer... We all know they managed to develop a vaccine for the ‘seasonal’ flu that occurs yearly... But never in our history has a vaccine ever been developed for a ‘wild card’ corona flu.

Spanish flu 1918-1920... 50 million dead - no vaccine.
Asian flu 1958-59... Over 1 million dead - no vaccine.
Hong Kong flu 1968-69... Over 1 million dead - no vaccine.
All previous wild card flu’s in history.... NO VACCINE.

These flu pandemics have come and gone without any vaccine being created. That’s because they typical peter out within a year or two of their appearance. By the time they develop a vaccine this flu will be inconsequential and essentially petering out. Why bother wasting billions on flu vaccine for a flu we will never see again in the history of this earth?

Contemplate the distinction between “reasons” and “excuses”.

There has never been a successful vaccine for a coronavirus.
No one is talking about Farr’s Law of Epidemics lately.

IMO...Sweden, although it did shut down most schools & universities, has shown that distancing works - even if it means no large gatherings, their economy is far more open. Their hospitals are not overwhelmed, even if they are pushed.

Therefore, while this is a virus that seems worse than the normal flu, we know whom are most at risk and can mitigate their risks.

Which leaves us with the inescapable conclusion, we’re living in tyranny and there’s no justification for it. This has become about the election, the demand to vote by mail.

This has become absolute madness. I say that as someone that had a lot of patience, I argued for the lock-down until we had far more information.

Since then I’ve come to realize there’s no defined metrics for a Governor takeover. There’s no defined thresholds that must be crossed for the needed metrics. There’s nothing stopping them from taking the same draconian measures with next seasons flu. This is, not only, unacceptable, we’ve crossed into the realm of requiring us to get ‘extremely serious’ in response because they’ve done far more than ‘cross the line’. They’re also not standing down but stepping things up.

Sigh...never thought it’d happen so quickly, like this, in the USA. We’re living the movie. Although I’ve been patient, something has to give.

I’m also sure I’m not the only one that knows this. Their power is in making me think I am.

And what kind of lockdowns did they do back then, in those pandemics?

Contrary to what Democrats are hoping that the virus and resulting economic collapse will cause Trump to lose the election, these blue state shutdowns however may assure a Trump victory in November. Trump lost Minnesota by less than 5,000 votes. Most of the state voted for Trump except the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and a few northern Minnesota counties dominated by mining unions. However northern Minnesota is heavuly dependent on tourism and fishing during a short five month season. The Democrat Governors lockdown order has already kept resorts, marinas, bait shops, bars and restaurants closed for nearly half of their season and many of these small businesses will never recover. That economic devastation will likely turn northern Minnesota into Trump country.
