Do you miss the absence of professional sports since the coronavirus healthscare changed the world?
I’ll tell you what I DON’T miss....
The America-hating, man-hating, US Flag-hating, forced lesbian, hetero-hating, Christian-hating, Trump-hating US Womens Soccer Team.
I was a 100% fan and now I am negative below zero on them.
I even heard from somebody they hoped for a Munich style event in their future. I did not go that far, but they are dead to me.
The rest I don’t miss either, or really I have not noticed.
Doing them, yes for some people.
Watching other people doing sports tells me I should get off my ass and go do something, mainly things I need to do on our property, or do some useful exercising, do things with family. That last one is not easy now, for Covid-19 reasons.
I have got done a lot of things I have been putting off, and it feels good .
I gave up pro and college sports 20 years ago.
Not at all. This shows how hollow and unimportant professional sports is.
Nope. Maybe those “sports enthusiasts” finally realize the amount of money they are pissing away to pay exorbitant salaries to these entertainers. Same thing for the Hollywood pukes .... no sympathy.
Yes. And anyone that gleefully says no can go screw. I dont care about the sports. Its the economic impact. I dont care about nor watch NASCAR. But I want Nascar to thrive as its good for the economy and America in general. Same with every sport. I occasionally watch football. Never watch the NBA or baseball. But damn we need it thriving!! I dont go to the Opera or symphony either, but I want them to be sold out too!
Yes. Missed March madness. Missed the NHL playoffs. Missed the Kentucky derby. Missed the Keenland spring meet. Missed opening day of baseball and the regular season. Miss watching PGA golf on Sundays. Miss playing golf.
I don’t miss professional sports as much as I am missing youth sports. Kids are being forced to sit on the couch playing xbox and PlayStation and are being kept from playing baseball or soccer or lacrosse... We keep hearing about how we need to get kids to exercise and get outside, and now our tyrannical dictators, err.. I mean governors are keeping them on the couch. High schools cancelled their seasons, local sports organizations are shut down and there is no end in sight as these tyrants are saying the lockdowns will continue through the fall. I am sick of it...
I know my husband misses the PGA. How many old golf games can we watch? Well, ok, a lot, and there is the Big Break, and the one with all the women was my favorite because of all the drama! Heheh. You dont get THAT with the men. Man. It was a regular cat fight, too bad they didnt play the whole thing.
But seriously, the PGA!
No
My husband and oldest son were really getting into hockey. They enjoyed the camaraderie and time spent together. They miss that.
My middle child is closer to me and we love cooking and baking, so our time is uninterrupted. My little guy and I do IHOP, so he’s not too happy. He misses our outings.
Also, all my kids miss range time with Dad.
No.
I’m a UK sports fan as well. Being 70 years old I remember that UK didn’t used to supply very many NBA players because UK has always been team-oriented instead of star-oriented. Calipari is long on recruiting one-and-done players, but short on championships. With the players Calipari has had Adolf Rupp, Coach K, Roy Williams, or John Wooden would’ve had 6-8 championships by now.
I do. I miss golf on TV. I miss sitting in my garage on a nice spring evening having a beer and watching the afternoon golf replay. I also miss baseball. I miss the previous scenario except substitute KC Royals baseball for golf.
What I will really miss is our minor league baseball team, the Omaha Storm Chasers. The wife and I like to go to the ballpark (which is a 7 minute drive down the road from our house) on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer to watch baseball. We buy the good seats behind home plate and have some cold beers and popcorn. We stick around and watch the fireworks display on Friday nights also. It is good baseball (the Royals Triple A affiliate) and generally just a great experience. The summer is going to seem really empty and strange without our frequent trips to Werner park. My wife’s folks like to go with us as well. I know my father in law said he will miss going to baseball.
At least we can still play golf here in Nebraska. I have been playing a couple of times a week. We have been referring to it as “mental therapy”. It is the one thing that I really look forward to in all this crap going on.
No. Sports in general have become grotesquely commercialized a spectacle of pure greed.
No.
They are overpaid for providing nothing but entertainment anyways.
Tennis and golf, absolutely!
There are a good number of hockey fans here-especially FREEPERS from North Dakota and Maine.
PGA.
