The Real Reason Why Pelosi Won’t Call the House Back Into Session
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 05/05/2020 5:01:33 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

You understand why San Fran Nan won’t call the House back in session, right? It’s because she and Chuck Schumer are trying to shame Mitch McConnell into keeping the Senate shut down.

Why? Well, it’s obvious: They want to keep the Senate shut down in order to prevent the confirmation of President Trump’s judicial nominees and other key nominees like John Ratcliffe, who is up to become the Director of National Intelligence.

Luckily, McConnell is having none of it, and called the Senate back into session this week with his main goal to specifically get those nominees moving again. He understands that it is crucial for the nation to get back to some semblance of normalcy as soon as possible in order to avoid a massive economic depression, and that America won’t get back to some semblance of normalcy if its elected leaders are all holed up in their basements like Joe Biden and Chris Cuomo.

But Democrats are different – make no mistake about it. They don’t care about people dying or 30 million Americans having been put out of jobs; all they care about is politics. After all, the Wuhan Virus is killing mainly old people, and old people happen to be mostly Republican voters. Democrats like Pelosi and Schumer see this and their only thought is that man, this could really tilt a few congressional race in November if enough old people die in the right districts.

Those 30 million additional unemployed? To your typical Democrat politician, their only thought is that that is one huge target-rich environment of potential Democrat voters. If they can just keep enough of those 30 million on unemployment until November it could be an electoral gold mine.

Am I being overly cynical here, unfair to your Democrat “friends”? Not really. Take a look at this great graphic I found on Twitter the other day:

Image may contain: 7 people, possible text that says 'ABORTION THE DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE το EMERGENCY 1.) CLOSE CHURCHES AND GUN STORES 2.) KEEP MURDERING BABIES CLINICS. 3.) RELEASE FELONS. 4.) LOCK UP CITIZENS. 5.) SUBSIDIZE ILLEGAL ALIENS. 6.) BAN POTENTIALLY LIFE SAVING DRUGS. 7.) FUND THE KENNEDY CENTER. 8.) BUY PPE FROM CHINA. 9.) GIVE THEMSELVES A RAISE. 10.) BLOCK RELIEF FUNDS FOR SMALL BUSINESS. 11.) GO ON VACATION. 12.) INVESTIGATE TRUMP AGAIN. imgflip.co'

Now, the saddest part of this list is that each and every element of it is 100% true. Go ahead – try to convince me otherwise.

What’s more, the list is far from comprehensive. Here are some other items you could add to it:

13. Tried to give more money to Planned Parenthood.

14. Tried to insert language mandating “ballot harvesting”, i.e., voter fraud, into two stimulus bills.

15. Outlawed the use of motor boats to appease climate change alarmists.

16. Shut down beaches despite the knowledge that heat and sunlight kill the virus.

17. Shut down public parks and then went for walks in them.

18. Shut down “unnecessary” travel and then flew the governor of Illinois’ family to a posh resort in Florida.

19. Threatened to arrest people for “crimes” they have made up out of whole cloth.

The list could go on and on: The point is that, while President Trump and his task force have been working 100 hours a week for the last 3 months trying to save lives and deal with this pandemic, the Democrats have been working 100 hours a week doing little but trying to find ways to take political advantage of this tragic situation and extend it out for as long as possible. This is who they are, it is what they do.

We’ve noted this many times, but it deserves noting again: They are only able function in this despicable mode because of the fact that they literally own the nation’s news media. It’s why Pelosi had zero concerns about needlessly delaying two different stimulus bills while millions suffered: Because there was no political price to be paid for doing so.

Hell, people who get all their news from CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS didn’t even know she was doing it. With no one in the media working to hold them accountable, Democrat politicians no longer have a social filter. What’s more, they know their core voters have been so brainwashed by these corrupt media outlets that there is nothing they can do, no act so repugnant, to make them vote for anyone else.

You don’t have to believe me – just take a look at this tweet from Harvey Weinstein’s attack dog Democrat lawyer Lisa Bloom:

Lisa Bloom ✔ @LisaBloom I believe you, Tara Reade. You have people who remember you told them about this decades ago. We know he is "handsy." You're not asking for $. You've obviously struggled mightily with this. I still have to fight Trump, so I will still support Joe. But I believe you. And I'm sorry https://twitter.com/BuzzFeedNews/status/1255998888114188288 …

This is Democrat core voters in a nutshell: They know Biden abused, harassed and raped Tara Reade, but they don’t care. If Biden’s the nominee, they’re voting for him anyway. Because Trump. And maybe science or something.

This is who they are; it is what they do. To them, everything in life is a political calculation. Once you accept that about your Democrat “friends,” everything they say and do makes perfect sense.

That is all.

Ask yourself...what exactly can you accomplish against Trump and the GOP controlled Senate? Zero.

In an election year? Plenty! Pelosi and the House will pass all the bills that they can that will appeal to their base and knowing they will die in the Senate. The Democrats want the Senate back and they'll be running against McConnell as well as Trump.

The author didn't say McConnell is keeping the Senate in session solely to appoint judges...

McConnell's made it clear he isn't in any rush to consider anymore Covid legislation and the Senate hasn't been passing much of anything else. What else is there but appointments, judicial or otherwise?

McConnell has said that appointing judges is his priority, but you twisted the point the author was making in this piece.

You said the "sole" purpose of McConnell was to appoint judges, but the author wrote that it was the purpose of Pelosi to use the House shutdown to keep McConnell from appointing judges.

If anyone had a "sole" purpose to their actions, it was Pelosi, not McConnell.

Dems have probably figured out that their constituents are largely the wealthy elites and people already dependent on government for their income. Their still have money. Republican-leaning small business owners and their employees seem to be of little to no concern to Dems.

I thought Pelosi wanted to stay in San Francisco so she can make sure somebody doesn’t steal her expensive refrigerator, full of expensive ice cream.

Democrats really are wired differently, and they have a their core the ultimate philosophical deficiency: They believe central planning and enforcement of socioeconomic behavior is the ideal prescription for mankind.

The Founders designed the Republic around the exact opposite core belief: That only as free individuals can we weigh personal risk and reward for our actions. ... That consensus policymaking is devoid of the inter-competition and experimentation that brings good ideas to the forefront.

Individuals freely experimenting with competing ideas - that is the hope of mankind - and central planners (Democrats) seek to snuff it out.

If anyone doubts that - just listen to the way Democrats regard the current central-planned socioeconomic crackdown. They are giddy with excitement at the prospects - they view this as a great opportunity. They don’t ever want to go back to freedom.

They want to take this central planning and enforcement of “social distancing” and use it as a model for all sorts of central policymaking: climate change, gun control, abortion on demand, you name it.

Everything they ever hoped to control is now within their reach - now that they have seen how compliant we are when properly brainwashed and afraid.

They aren’t even hiding it - they are proud of their Marxism, although they don’t like to call it by name.

Let's take this one step further, to the point of this article:

The Framers of the Constitution didn't trust any single branch or person with power; they divided power as a check and balance against the other powers to protect the individual rights of the people and the states.

Structurally, Congress is divided between representing the People (the House) and representing the states (the Senate). This is why:

  1. the people impeach, but the states convict.
  2. the people initiate spending, but the states confirm appointments.
  3. the people choose the President in the event of an Electoral College tie, but the states ratify treaties with foreign governments.
  4. Both the people and the states must agree to adjourn Congress.

If we examine each of the points above, we will see that it is the Democrats who are corrupting each one.

  1. Democrats in the House corrupted the impeachment process with hoax charges as an electoral strategy because of a weak candidate field for 2020. Pelosi withheld delivering the articles of impeachment to the Senate while she tried to pressure McConnell to agree to House Democrat terms for conducting the Senate trial.
  2. Democrats in the House tried to use the crisis of the Coronavirus to pass left-wing agenda items in a "must have" Covid-19 emergency spending bill. In the Senate they are abusing the rules to delay the process of confirming Cabinet appointments necessary to properly staff the Executive branch, and Judicial appointments to fill vacancies in the lower courts.
  3. Democrats in the House tried to use the Coronavirus to create "mail in" elections where anyone on a voting roll automatically receives a ballot, and then approve national ballot harvesting to get those ballots voted. In the Senate, Democrats schemed to get the Paris Accords and Iran Deal enacted with the force of treaties without actually going through the Senate treaty process.
  4. Democrats refused to return to the House in April to pass a spending bill to refill the Paycheck Protection Program for workers furloughed over the Covid-19 virus in order to hurt President Trump.

And, on point #4, now the Democrats in the House are trying to pressure McConnell to follow the House into adjournment to stop President Trump from continuing to get his lower court nominees confirmed.

These are all the kinds of actions that the Framers tried to protect against by dividing power to check and balance any runaway parts.

It doesn’t as far as confirming judges, treaties, and other public official. As far as legislating, the Senate can pass a bill, but the House is needed to act on it as well.

And what bill is the Senate thinking of passing? McConnell has made it plain that future Covid bills and an infrastructure bill aren't in the cards.

McConnell has made it plain that future Covid bills and an infrastructure bill aren't in the cards.

McConnell wasn't so absolute regarding future Covid bills.

In this National Review article from April 28 McConnell Shoots Down Trump’s Infrastructure Proposal: ‘Keep the White House in the Box’:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) told Republican Senators that he would not support President Trump’s proposal for an infrastructure overhaul as part of any further coronavirus economic relief, according to multiple reports...

McConnell, who has been skeptical of infrastructure spending in the past, has taken a different public tone, including preaching fiscal austerity following the Senate’s passing of the historic $2.2 trillion CARES Act in March and a $484 billion small business replenishment bill last week.

I’m open to additional assistance. It’s not just going to be a check, though, you get my point?” McConnell said Monday. “We’re not writing a check to send down to states to allow them to, in effect, finance mistakes they’ve made unrelated to the coronavirus.”
