"The unexpected reaction appears to stem from the differences in how the two drugs came into the public spotlight"

Could be.

Or it could be that HCL has been prescribed to tens of millions of people over the past 50 years and was considered so safe (until Trump mentioned it) that as recently as last year it was routinely prescribed to Americans going on vacation in India or parts of Africa.

For what it's worth, I took it when I went to India and the doctor didn't even tell me there might be side effects (there weren't any). Just "India? Oh you'll need these shots and an anit-malerial prescription. Have a nice trip!"

Or just read the comments that will follow in this thread.

Tina is not only stupid, she’s also lazy and obviously did not do her homework. No wonder the public has lost all faith in the mainstream media. Many doctors are now prescribing HCQ to their family members to build up a stash of the drug, just in case.

I dont think little known investors did anything about hcq, a drug you cant make money on.

And i dont think we are downplaying any drugs, not sure how noting risks suddenly became a bad thing.

Is ANYONE getting gilead’s drug when they are first diagnosed with Covid and not in the hospital..yeah didnt think so.

You must be in the hospital since Remdesivir must be administered through an IV.

Why not use the triple meds of hydroxychloroquine + Azithromycin + zinc upon diagnosis and then the IV drug if you keep getting sicker to the point where you need the ICU? If HCQ + 2 works for $20, fewer people will get to the point where they need the expensive IV drug or the ICU.

Not to mention the Chinese may own the patent...

I was going to post "follow the money" but that's not necessary - it's the Chinese, of course, and their Dem lackeys.

I already suspected - resistance to HCE therapy was because it's old, out of patent, and produced worldwide already. Can't corner the market and gouge the rubes on something everyone already makes.

Much better to patent a new, expensive drug with limited availability and unlimited markup potential. As a plus they can plead scarcity and then deny it to people they don't like while offering it dirt cheap to those who play the game.

despite flawed and scattered evidence???

Bill Gates’ flunky Dr. Anthony Fauci, expert on disease, vaccination, world politics expert and all around expert on everything, has a conflict of interest in the drug remdesivir which his handlers stand to make about $1,000 per dose. Also the miracle cure for pneumonia that caused a drop in deaths by over a thousand last week should get much serious attention.

Most people cant get trump’s drug on day 1 of symptoms or even Day 1 of test results.

There are SOME Drs willing to do it.
Texags site has one. So if anyone is in his neck of the woods you can go to him.

The idiot Tina’s last sentence:”That being said, about 25% of patients receiving it have severe side effects, including multiple-organ dysfunction syndrome, septic shock, acute kidney injury and low blood pressure. Another 23% demonstrated evidence of liver damage on lab tests.”
So, the conclusion is that about 48% of the patients (almost every other one!) will experience serious or severe side effects. Wonderful.

Well sometimes the clinical testing supports the notion that a drug is unsafe.

This is the case here.

The main reasons a lot of people who support President Trump (The MAGA People) like one drug regimen rather than another are: So, yeah. we are not only skeptical of the expensive drug and your support of it, we are skeptical of your professed desire (as shallow as it may be) to put this mess behind us.

Add that response to these the China backers are using
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .

One would be willing to put up with those side effects in the event of three things:

It was a wonder drug that would fix you 70% of the time

The pathogen had a 40% mortality rate like the Plague.

You are sick, getting worse, and the cheap drug did not work.

Otherwise, one has to wonder why a drug that shows a 30% success rate (last I heard) but has a 50% chance of serious possibly permanent side effects would even be considered.

Both drugs will work better if given early in the episode. The problem is HCQ was tested only in late stage (maybe too late) and this gave the impression that it was not any better than a placebo. But I asked my MD and he was involved in some Rem studies and favored it for me, if I ended up with symptoms. He was intending to get me on them rapidly but now that it is approved for emergency, I may not find a study.

My belief is that this has all been related to making money off the pandemic. Hospital treatment has been covered from the start and so naturally the drug trials are using hospitalized patients.

The hold off for HCQ made certain that it did not get widespread usage before Rem could be approved, and now they are even looking into whether Rem would be best in combination with an antibiotic (OK, what about Zinc?).

Hell, I even believe the screw up with the testing helped with this competition. Because rapid testing could have resulted in treatment earlier enough so that both drugs would end up with similar results. Now that the Rem has approval, lets see if the test snafu gets resolved in a few days?

But I agree with the sentiment that a drug that reduces death rates has got to be good. Maybe we will see the death rates start to drop instead of just flattening?
