On Tuesday night, Mayor Bill de Blasio declared war on New Yorks Jewish community. The very same mayor who went to the gym the day after closing New York Citys schools, restaurants, and bars and who took a stroll in Prospect Park on Saturday, as news was breaking that 28 New York City schoolteachers had died from the virus, has ventured out yet again into a crowd. This time, he went to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where a large number of Satmar Hasidim had gathered. The mayor went to personally ensure the crowd was dispersed, the mayor explained in a tweet. And then, he took things one step further. My message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: the time for warnings has passed, the Mayor tweeted. I have instructed the NYPD to proceed immediately to summons or even arrest those who gather in large groups. This is about stopping this disease and saving lives. Period.

I dont know who is dumber, DeBlasio or Cuomo.
So telling Jewish people they have to follow the same rules everyone has to follow is ‘antisemitism’?
I guess they really are ‘the chosen ones’...
The people who vote for them.
They shut down Christian churches too.
the funeral was approved by the city beforehand. they followed the rules - unlike deblazio who doesn’t follow his own rules.
Snarky “chosen ones” comments reflect antisemitism on your part.
Oh he has not. Gotta side with DeBlasio on this and I can’t stand the guy.
Those Hasidic Jews do not believe the rules apply to them.
They have totally ignored social distancing. How many weddings have they had with hundreds of guest. I know DM reported on at least 4 major ones in the last 2 months. Plus all the funerals with hundreds if not thousands in attendance.
Same folks who refuse to vaccinize and had the huge measles outbreak last year in their community.
It’s not jewish people. Its Hasidic. The rules during covid is for everyone but them. We had friends die during this. They deserved a proper funeral and burial, but we have to wait.
Funerals are 10 people.
This is not a joke attempt. Anyone know if COVID has been a problem in the Amish community?
Developing herd immunity is not a painless process. It seems that 99.5% of people under 50 who become infected with COVID-19 recover and survive. Between 50-70 probably up to 2% die. Over 70 may be as high as 5%. Absent a safe, effective vaccine many people will sicken and die before “herd immunity” is achieved. Of course genetic susceptibility, underlying medical conditions and unknown but significant variables will all determine just who becomes infected. The healthy can quarantine and isolate for only so long. Eventually most of the population will have to confront this virus. The only reason to delay or postpone that confrontation is to not overwhelm the health care system. Yet it has not been demonstrated that hospital in patient care mitigates mortality numbers.
So, if you get arrested, will you be released because of the COVID hazard posed by jails? I mean, if these people are sent to jail, isn’t it like a death sentence?
> They shut down Christian churches too. <
What about NYC mosques? Does anybody know? From the link below (notice that de Blasio doesnt mention mosques):
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio threatened to shut down churches and synagogues permanently if they violated the states stay-at-home orders.
“A small number of religious communities, specific churches and specific synagogues are unfortunately not paying attention to this guidance even though its so widespread,” the mayor said Friday.

SHOCKING.
They’re Haredi, not Hasidic.
Both groups dress the same, yes.
Both are deeply Republican, yes.
But Haredi are anti-Zionist, while Hasidic are not.
Williamsburg are Satmar Haredi (generally).
It was a permitted funeral process. Outside, generally with masks.
Basically anything outside (with some common sense) is safe.
“I dont know who is dumber, DeBlasio or Cuomo.”
The people who voted for them are dumber than both.
